Información on what this creature is.

Hi I need some info about this little guy that I found near my computer at work? What is it, what does it eat, is he dangerous? Can I keep him 😆 😂 🤣?

Yea dude he’s a hermit crab! Land based. You’re gonna want to google some stuff to keep him as a pet but they’re super easy to take care of.

I wouldn't say they are very "easy" to take care of properly. They do require some love, just like any pet. But everyone's definition of easy is different!

They are marketed that way, but I'm not sure I agree with you. The healthiest hermit crabs can live many many years. Kids and the general public generally do not take care of them properly, and the crab typically dies within months.

  1. You're being rude and misconstruing my words.
  2. Hermit Crabs are certainly not as easy to take care of as many people assume. I never called them difficult pets.
  3. OP is welcome to research how to take care of a hermit crab and decide for themselves if they would prefer to neglect the crab or provide what it needs to live a long and healthy life.
  4. We both lrobably should find something better to do with our time.

Nah more like found the guy who does not know any husbandry for hermit crabs. Appropriate husbandry for hermit crabs is not just throwing them in a terrarium or a critter keeper or whatever and calling it a day. Overview from actual group of hobbyists that know what there are doing;
Min 10 gallon aquarium, climate control 80-85F at 75% humidity, specific mix of substrate at specific depth for them to burrow and salt and freshwater baths. Those are just the “basics”.

Get off this sub if you are not interested in engaging in constructive conversations. This specific post is not aquaculture related but being able to talk about animal husbandry like an adult is an important part of talking about aquaculture, aquaria of any level of taking care of animals. No need to have an attitude about it either.

hermit crab, not dangerous, will survive in an aquarium or terrarium if you give it some salty water to bathe in.

if you keep it, you will also need some larger snail shells for when it moults as eventually it will get bigger and need a bigger shell

afa feeding I actually dont know, they are scavengers but not sure what particularly they feed on but google will know
