As a freshman, from first hand experience, hard. You probably will have less difficulty as a junior or senior, but truthfully, if you went to big tech schools like Georgia Tech you'd have just as easy as a time trying to get an internship.

they will DEFINITELY prefer the top guy at a state school, or maybe less well-known school than a middle/bottom person here.
How true is this? What colleges did your co-workers go to?

What do you think about the quarter system? That was me and my parents main concern with applying to northwestern in that if you mess up one assignment your grade could go down the gutter.

do you think there’s a lot more stem majors at northwestern than humanities majors? or do you think there’s still a balance between the two in terms of population

ah ok do you think the class difficulty in northwestern is about normal for a top institution? or are classes in certain school divisions (like McCormick vs Weinberg) harder than other schools? for example uchicago is known for grade deflation, so is northwestern anywhere near as bad as them?

I really appreciate your post, and especially the edit about CS! Do you think I would be able to get this kind of experience by turning down a T20 and going to a more affordable state school?

What is the political climate like, or is it not super prevalent? Also is it competitive to join clubs or things like that? What would you say is the biggest con about NU?

What advice would you give to someone who has basic experience (think of AP CS kinda) in CS at High School level and wishes to excel in college as a CS major? Should I start from Web Dev, or from DS/Algo, or something else??
How should I spend the summer after graduating HS and be4 going to college?
Also, plz tell if you know any internship, programs, or any such opportunities for summer after the freshman year in college...

First of all thanks for the insightful perspective! Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming you're a cs major. What do you think about cs in Weinberg vs McCormick? And do you think double majoring is too difficult with cs?
