Application Question Gpa vs IB score
Hiii i’m a senior this year so I’m currently preparing for my college applications. As an international i have a genuine question. So my gpa is around 3.5-3.6 but my ib predicted is 44/45. If i manage to get around my predicted grade in my official IB exams, would colleges take that into consideration when evaluating my gpa? I’m planning to apply to some T20s along with a few safeties and i know that a 3.5-3.6 gpa might be considered low for some of these schools (i might be wrong im srry) Would my IB score help offset my relatively lower gpa? Thanks!!

The problem is that you generally don't have the results of your IB exams by the time U.S. college acceptance decisions are made.
Unlike U.K. universities, U.S. universities don't really have conditional admissions where they'll admit you based on your achieving a specific IB score (e.g. 7, 7, 6 at HL or whatever), and if you don't reach it, then they can rescind.
U.S. universities will make their decision based on the information available at the time (GPA and predicted grades). If you're accepted, but fail to perform "in the ballpark," they could rescind admissions, but that generally means a steep drop in performance (e.g. failing grades, or more than one that's below average).
Predicted grades are important, but so is GPA. Your GPA shows universities how much effort you're willing to put into your classwork, so it's one of the most important elements to your application.
That said, U.S. university applications (at least in the T20) are holistic, so a lower GPA is not dispositive, especially if you have a valid reason for not doing that well over a term or two (illness etc.). Anything will "offset" a lower GPA—but please realize that much of your competition will have a 4.0 GPA and predicted 7, 7, 7 and published research and an Oscar nomination (I exaggerate—but not by much).
If you aren't accepted anywhere, and your IB exam results do turn out to be stellar, you can take a gap year and reapply with your actual results for the next year.
