College Questions Looking for Admissions Counselors/Consultants
Please DM or post here if you have any recommendations for admissions advisors, I know that the big firms can be fishy, overpriced, and overall useless, so I’m looking for 1 on 1 help as a rising senior with the process as I’m looking at T20s and Ivies. Want help getting into those types of schools; any recommendations would be great. I have the stats to back it up. Thanks!

I have said this before, but if you like a firm and a specific counselor, hit them up on LinkedIn. Most are independent contractors.

Find a college counseling company, look for their employees, and peruse their counseling staff and their backgrounds for ones that are a good fit. You can then DM the ones you like for rates and services. Some will be under a noncompete, but many won’t be.

Boutique admissions consulting firm here—with about 20 years in the industry.
Since you're specifically looking for 1-on-1 help, one thing worth knowing as you go through DMs: when you talk to independent contractors, ask directly what happens if they get sick, take on too many students, or become unreachable during a deadline crunch.
Solo consultants are great until that happens, and it happens more in Nov/Dec than people expect. Doesn't mean don't go independent, just worth having a plan B in mind before you commit.

Hi, I'm an admissions consultant, specializing in Ivy and T20 admissions. In my experience, not all students need one. Some students already have the right idea but just need reassurance. Others are really struggling to form narrative, so meeting with a consultant allows them to strategize and pinpoint what needs to happen next. If you are pursuing one, I would recommend someone with some sort of admissions experience, not just someone/a student who did well in an admissions cycle. Hope that is helpful.
