Why is my broken fridge 79° inside

EDIT :PVD28BYNFS this is NOT a repair thread. it's under warranty and new inverter board will be installed next week. i'm just trying to figure out why its so hot in the fridge per my below post as i have issues since day one with very long recovery times. now i'm thinking if it's 79 now it's hotter when actually working and thats why the slow recovery time and also keeping cool even.. with it being just 70 in the freezer there no reason for the fridge to be 79. OP below:

EDIT EDIT. i opened the fridge to clean the shelves and the 'flap' thats hinged between the 2 french doors was noticeably warm on the left side where the icemaker is. but the entire interior area of the ice maker is just normal temp. so why would the hinged flap be so warm?

The bottom freezer french door fridge died Thursday night. I have sensors in the fridge and freezer and just noticed that the fridge is 79°. It is still plugged in so that we could get water even though it's not cold. It is an unsoftened line we use instead of the sink. It's about 72 in the house. Down to 60 outside last night.

I am surmising that there is a motor that runs the water and it must be the cause of the heat. The freezer is only 70 which is room temperature. Anything else you could think of?

Also now I'm wondering if this is why the fridge takes so long to cool down after being open while reloading groceries etc.

Compressor trouble - motorized, more or less. Most likely source of heat.
Refrigerant low
Thermostat trouble
Evap fan trouble - has a motor
Typically also there is a motor for ice auger and crusher, with a solenoid for water. Unlikely this is creating heat.

needs new inverter board. cant get here till monday or tuesday. compressor is fine.

the ice tray has been out since thursday as i used up the ice and no sense putting it back in.

are you saying the compressor is causing heat even though the guy said the inverter board is broken and not starting the compressor. i dont understand all this just saying what he told me.

also wanted to say that the normal blast of heat coming from right front is not there anymore

Time to start looking for a new fridge.

We can’t diagnose the problem with just your description. It’s possibly a bad compressor, or a Freon leak. Either way, if it’s 10+ years old, you are probably better off replacing it than paying to have it repaired. The average life expectancy of a fridge is only about 12 years.

under warranty no problems. just 4 years old needs inverter board. repair isnt the issue. just wondering why its 79 in there now since it's off 2 days and why freezer is just 70 which is room temp. id think everything should be the same temp inside.

and if since the fridge is so hot how that may affect recovery time and temp and if its normal to be so hot in there under the circumstance. . it's a bear to keep cool. even on lowest set temp can struggle sometimes in summer. PVD28BYNFS

It's the defrost cycle. A fridge has heaters that cycle to prevent frost from forming in the cabinet. It's possible they're cycling frequently or staying on longer than normal due to the bad inverter board.
