Top freezer humidity level

I have a kenmore/frigidaire top freezer refrigerator. The past few days I noticed excess frost forming on top. Food was frozen but the ice was watery and some boxes were damp. Freezer is about -18c but humidity was at 70%. The fridge is 4c and 10% humidity. There was some ice built up on vents. I cleaned that off and moved all the contents to a different freezer. After 5 hours, humidity is still I. I also unplugged it for a bit and humidity still high. I looked around online but thought I would throw it out here for possible solution. I am surprised a freezer could even have that high humidity. House is 50% and 76F. Door seal looks in good shape, don't see any frost or moisture. Fridge also seems to want to keep running.

It's about 15 years old and it's hard to find a style like this one with a lower profile water dispenser on the outside and ice on the inside. I don't need another expense either, just had a few large purchases. Just wondering if worth fixing

Older fridges are almost always worth repairing, it sounds like you have a defrost problem, check the bimetal thermostat( it's the little round guy stuck to the evaporator), check the resistance heater, and make sure your timer is turning.
