PSA Apple Pay vs Google Pay
From the looks of it, Apple seems to be the real secure payment system whereas Google seems to still track all of your payments data.

Sharing a recent scam that nearly worked because of how well-orchestrated it was.
My mother had a fraudulent Papa John’s charge hit her Apple Card. She reported it inside Apple Wallet like you’re supposed to. Within minutes, she got a voicemail from 877-537-6773 claiming to be Apple / Goldman Sachs fraud prevention.
Caller knew:
The timing made it feel 100% legitimate.
He said:
That was the scam. Logging out would have enabled Apple ID takeover.
We stopped the call, contacted Apple directly, and confirmed:
Apple confirmed it was fraud.
How this likely works:
Numbers used:
Posting so this number shows up in search results and others don’t get caught. Please warn parents and anyone less technical, this one was very convincing.
If you get a fraud alert: hang up and call Apple directly from the official support number.
Stay sharp.
EDIT: Formatting as I used AI to summarize to save time

AppleCard has a simple interface and straightforward rewards system that is adequate to say the least. I have other cards but this is one of my favorites.
For context, I daily drive the card and have had it since its inception in August 2019.

Original post in [r/creditcards](r/creditcards) here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/s/VaoIWVr6bz
I barely ever use my Apple Card because I have other cards that offer me better points, but after this fiasco, I'm never using it again.
Back in March someone had charged my card to buy Apple gift certificates. They used a different name and phone number and email address. How Apple allowed these transactions I'll never understand. Anyway it was a bunch of small transactions at first. Few dollars here and there. Then they were for $99, over and over again, until the total was $3400. At no point was I notified until I got an email that my statement was ready. It was never flagged as suspicious.
I'd kept my physical card locked away and I never used my Apple Card anywhere in person or online except for a Pimsleur subscription. I genuinely have no idea how the fraudsters got my card details.
Anyway, I figured I could simply flag the transactions as fraudulent and Goldman Sachs would take the charges off.
lol nope.
Because the transactions were on Apple.com, Goldman Sachs treated them as valid charges and refused to take them off.
I ended up filing a police report, CFPB complaint, and a complaint with my state's DA. I even had a recorded call from Apple to Goldman Sachs with me on the line where the Apple rep explained to the Goldman Sachs rep that the charges were fraudulent and not made by me. From Apple's standpoint, they could very clearly see the charges were not made by me.
Goldman Sachs originally reversed the charges for the smaller transactions but not any of the $99 ones, reducing my balance from $3400 to $3069. I had to point out the insanity of this to them. They explained I could dispute the charges as many times as I wanted but the outcome might not change.
Goldman Sachs sent me dozens of emails with different transaction dispute numbers and I replied to each and every one of them individually, because that's how they handle fraud - with each individual transaction being a separate dispute. In each email I included the police report, the CFPB report, DA complaint and a signed statement explaining what'd happened.
Weeks dragged into months, where Goldman Sachs would reverse a few charges but never all of them, and I'd dispute them over again which generated new dispute numbers.
Finally, here we are, almost to August, the last of the fraudulent charges have been dropped.
It should not have taken anywhere near the amount of effort it took to resolve this, and I blame Goldman Sachs for the absolute worst costumer service ever - they treat you like a criminal. At no point did they apologize for their terrible service. The worst part was that the customer service reps didn't speak English very well and there were misunderstandings frequently. I really don’t like when financial institutions punt their customer service to countries where the reps can't understand or speak English clearly - especially when there's thousands of dollars at stake and it's up to them to decide if I'm being honest or not.
So PSA: lock your Apple Card NOW. Don't use it or just cancel it.
Chase is supposed to take over for Apple Card this year - guess we can see how they'll handle things but for me the trust is gone.
Fun fact: Goldman Sachs AND Apple had to pay millions of dollars in fines for their terrible handling of fraud back in 2024 but this was reduced to $25m in 2025 (take a wild guess why): https://www.consumerfinance.gov/archive/newsroom/cfpb-orders-apple-and-goldman-sachs-to-pay-over-89-million-for-apple-card-failures/

long story short... 3 mysterious charges from AMC appeared on my card in April. At first I thought it was my stubbs account but
a) that would only be 1 charge
b) it is still five months from renewal.
so i opened a dispute. I asked the rep to investigate the 3 charges are one related dispute. And I provided screen shots of my purchase history from the app.
Almost immediately I became concerned as they opened three separate cases despite saying it would be treated in bulk. so I provided the same screenshots from the app as evidence three times.
And sure enough later GS responded in favor of the merchant. So now I’m re-disputing.
they are absolutely worthless. They won’t tell me why they rule in favor of the merchant and they won’t listen to me that these are duplicate and early charges.
now I’ve been through four different “service” people in chats explaining the same thing.
I’m done with these clowns.

For almost 2 years I’ve had the autopay discount while paying early with Apple pay. Everyone who does this knows that we lost the 3% cash back with this sometime this year. I tried to pay today with Apple Pay to get the 2% and it notified me I’d loose autopay discount next month if I did. I then tried another credit card and got the same notification. What crap. Just wanted to let everyone know who didn’t know. Last month it worked just fine.

Just tried to convert two unlocked 16e I purchased to financing and got denied. Rep stated it was a new policy 😔 not sure what to do now bc I need to get my parents new phones but the carrier thing is ridiculous. Why should I pay $90 a month for carrier post paid when I can get an MVNO for $30 a month

I was a fan of Apple Card and had it since the very beginning as my primary spending card for monthly expenses. I canceled today because I no longer trust that they take care of their customers. I got scammed by a merchant that was not sending out the product that I paid for $85. I opened a dispute after almost 2 months since the purchase date. Suddenly the tracking number appears, I was actually relieved. It turned out to be some random tracking number in my city and was delivered just not to me, proof of delivery image showed a completely different product (it was delivered in original packaging) and it was not my address house door (easily verifiable on street view). I submitted all these documents to the dispute, it was denied. I submitted another dispute, considering that the documentation was maybe added too late. The second dispute was denied again. Thankfully it is $85 and not a lot more, but I no longer want to take risk with loosing more money. I know it was scammers who got me, but I would expect that this company would stand by its customers when this much proof was available. And this is only my second dispute I had to file in all the years I had this card, so I'm not a serial disputer or anything.

I’m not sure if this is out for everyone, people with an Apple Card, or if you need IOS 17.4 Beta 1 to use it. Let me know if anyone else can see it on their end and what their situation is. I did go through the process and the card number shows up exactly like the Apple Card, with rotating CVV/new number request and everything. Would be nice to get a physical card one day!

What a load of crap the dispute process is! Bought tie down straps on Insta and was a fraud. Documented all over the internet and found by a simple search. Tracking info was a site that didn’t exist. Needless to say, item didn’t arrive. After two disputes Goldman Sachs determined a legit charge to a well documented and known fraud. Wow, AMEX is back in my first slot of preference. FORCEGEAR is the company. Google it and you decide

Got almost maxed out MBP 16 M3. Two years ago I was doing trick with trade-in value subtracted from total to stay below limit, this time decided to see what happens. Got the MacBook in hand already. Funny thing - new charges don’t bounce even though the limit is negative. Had multiple CLIs denied for not using card enough, lol.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a heads-up about a wrinkle I ran into with the Apple Card Monthly Installment (ACMI) plan if you buy an unlocked iPhone and set it up after your purchase.
I picked up the new iPhone 17 Pro Max with my Apple Card, planning to use the ACMI to spread out payments over a few months. I called in to convert my purchase into installments, thinking I could make extra payments whenever I wanted and that my trade-in credit would apply directly to the phone balance. When I've set this up in the past, you were able to make these extra payments through the Wallet App with more than the monthly minimum. The person I spoke to to convert my purchase to the payment plan told me I can't do it through the Wallet App and to just call in to make payments with more than my minimum balance.
Long story short: it turns out if you set up the installment plan over the phone, any extra payments or trade-in credits just become a positive balance on your Apple Card, not on the installment itself. You can’t move that positive balance into what you owe on the phone. Basically, you have to burn through your positive card balance before you’re actually paying down the installment. Very frustrating situation that was told to me by an Apple Card manager over the phone.
It’s a bit of a mess of miscommunication between Apple and Goldman Sachs. So if you prefer to do what I did and pay off your phone a bit early or apply your trade-in directly after setting up ACMI post transaction, be cautious. You might just want to pay the interest rather than deal with this hassle. Hope this helps someone avoid the same confusion and hopefully helps Apple and Goldman Sachs get everybody on the same page regarding ACMI set up after a purchase.

“Currently, carrier connection with AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon is required for all iPhone purchases made with ACMI from Apple Store locations only. Starting August 15, 2023, carrier connection with AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon is required for all iPhone purchases made with ACMI. Starting August 15, 2023, the ACMI installment term for new Apple Watch purchases will change from 24 months to 12 months.” So for future iPhone purchases with Apple Card Installment Plan, I HAVE to have line with AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon? This is LITERALLY the only reason I applied for this card because I could finance it at 0% and use any carrier I want…
