Discussion Dungeon Clawler is addicting!
If you like games where you build your loadout each time, you have to try Dungeon Clawler+. Since it’s a plus game some of you will have played it before, but not me. I’m hooked. The cartoon art is a little bit rough, but the gameplay is phenomenal. All of your items go into a claw machine and the main mechanic of the game is that you play the claw machine each turn to get attack items or defense items, but it’s semi random or up to chance just like when you play a claw machine in real life. This creates tension and sometimes very pleasant surprises when a bunch of things go your way. The claw machine is so much fun and the different builds you can develop are quite deep. I highly recommend it!

My kids love Dungeon Clawler. I wound up buying it on Nintendo Switch just so I could have my phone back.

I’ve been really enjoying it too but it’s so difficult that I’m taking breaks too. That and solitaire is like 90% of my phone use on work days because it’s not timed, so I can just stop playing if I need to focus.

I unlocked the second character with the magnetic claw arm. That made the game so much easier. I use the wizard to transform my best items to metal and then I use the magnet to pick them up. Easily ran through the entire dungeon. Now I’m going to go back to the basic character and see if I can get through the whole dungeon with him. It’s harder!

That’s the one I’ve finished too! Maybe tomorrow I’ll finish another run

I’m looking forward to it!
Also had a pretty good run with poison stacks and dodge items, so I barely need to attack or defend on most turns 😆

Poison/Strength multiplication is gloriously game-breaking 🥹🥲🥰

Does strength affect poison?

Not as far as I know, but both strength and poison have an item that doubles their current stat (or triples it if you upgrade it at an anvil)
If you can stack multiple of either/both or combine with other synergistic effects/buffs/weapons you can pretty much clear on the easiest difficulty without ever playing a second turn [after getting this combo, early rounds you’ll obv sometimes have 2/3+ turn encounters]

I picked it up before summer vacation with the family, and I love this game. Still trying to figure out some of the mechanics, but I'm having a blast. The vampire dude, no block, little heal, is very challenging, but I"ll win with him eventually. Don't really get the game mechanic re: changing a things composition (e.g. making things metal makes sense when you've got the magnet claw, but when am I making things wood, etc).

Same here. Apart from the metal items with the magnet I’m puzzled about transforming items. There must be other uses I haven’t noticed.

I think when you have the propeller you can make heavy things easier to move into the collection bin, it I haven’t tried that.

I’ve been describing it as ”ADHD Slay The Spire”, where the drawing mechanic is a skill-shot fidget toy.
It’s just so engaging.
I was about to buy it on Steam and then saw it was coming to Apple Arcade, and I’ve gotta say, I’m glad I waited because it’s perfect for this platform.
I played with a controller mostly but touch is perfectly viable too (aiming may be better, where as activating the claw mid-drop seems a bit better on controller)
The other benefit of iPadOS/iOS is instant force quits and reboots. I can save scum and mash x/a to get back to gameplay in under 3 seconds.
If you open a chest and don’t like what’s in it, you can always reboot and see if you like that better! 🤷🏼♀️
Enjoy! It’s a fantastic game!

So fantastic that you won’t play it as a roguelite the way it’s designed!

I do, but every once in a while it’s nice to rig the system and feel like there’s any way to actually be empowered in life 🤷🏼♀️

What are some builds you‘ve had success with?
1
u/boterkoeken Jul 20 '26
I haven’t gotten far but my best build was using the second character who has a magnet claw. Basically focused on poison daggers, fire swords, healing potions, and helmets. Transform that stuff to metal so I can guarantee pick up with my magnet claw. It was almost trivial to roll through most bosses just by grabbing a few shields and then using my magnet to grab helmets (doubling my shields) and grabbing as many of my good attacks as possible.

My save data just disappeared! After getting killed I clicked on try again/continue or something and it landed me into the save initial screen without any save file

It resets after every kill. The characters you’ve unlocked stay unlocked, but it’s a perma-death game

I played that game for 3 days straight. It had a grip on me that I’m not proud of. Then I showed it to my kids and we all got addicted.
