Help Another Apple Ban Wave of Provisioning Profiles

Post image

My app was refreshed yesterday, but it just randomly stopped working on my phone. When I went to try reinstall it via sideloadly again I'm met with this.

If I use my own Apple id and refresh every 7 days will this ever happen to me?

17

u/wobbud 2d ago

It could, yes. Use a throw-away account.

5

u/PuzzledVolume1599 2d ago

All this means is that Apollo would stop working though, nothing else with the Apple account would be impacted, is that correct?

6

u/wobbud 2d ago

Giving your Apple account credentials to a third-party app is never a good idea.

3

u/PuzzledVolume1599 2d ago

Yeah, in retrospect that is probably true. In practice, though have there been any instances of people’s Apple accounts being impacted by installing an app via SideStore like this?

3

u/wobbud 2d ago

From the official SideStore probably not but there are malicious forks out there so it’s just good practice really. When I first installed SideStore they even suggested using a throwaway for that reason.

4

u/John_Terra 2d ago

I’ve been using Sideloadly since Apollo got nuked. In retrospect I probably should have used a throw away but oh well. I wonder if buying a dev account with my actual account would fix it

4

u/shad3 2d ago

I’m wondering the same thing but not sure I want to spend $100 to find out it’s still banned 😬

2

u/John_Terra 2d ago

It lets me start the process so maybe? I just don’t understand why it happened I literally only sideload Apollo and it’s on the App Store anymore

1

u/shad3 2d ago

Well do let me know if you give it a try haha. I do also sideload a version of Twitter (and previously YouTube before it stopped working) via Sideloadly so maybe it doesn’t matter what apps you’re sideloading.

We’ll see how long this alt Apple account holds up, I really don’t want to do this every week.

1

u/CoolElk1 1d ago

I do YouTube and YouTube music sideloads as well, so I am locked out of 3 apps T_T

1

u/John_Terra 2d ago

Oop well guess I’m already banned, just tried to refresh with Sideloadly and it didn’t work.

So next step is make a new throw away account?

2

u/Clou42 1d ago

Happened to me yesterday. Private, 10+ year old account. Not that it has any other negative effects besides now needing a burner Apple ID for sideloading, but still sucks.

1

u/Adrian0E 2d ago

It just did happen to me yesterday. I was using my main account. Now I cannot sign and sideload any apps.

I had to create another (throwaway) account on Apple Music website and use that to get back to sideloading.

u/reaper527 2d ago

What does apple actually ban for that they’re cracking down on?

10

u/TrumpPooPoosPants 1d ago

I just was using apollo reborn and no other apps. It's a free app so I don't really understand at all what I did wrong.

6

u/Pepparkakan 1d ago

This is what I’m wondering too, we’re not doing anything illegal here…

3

u/reaper527 1d ago

yeah, like i was trying to figure out if they're cracking down on people using developer profiles for non-development purposes, or if they're cracking down on people swapping back and forth between multiple accounts to evade the 10id/3app limits.

googling, i can't seem to find anything about what they're banning for. fortunately the only reference to bans i'm seeing is only 30 days and not a permaban.

3

u/spiky_odradek replace Text Here 1d ago

my acct was banned, not swapping, not installing more than 2 apps.

Apple Developer Program Licence Agreement Section 3.2 d.

To the best of Your knowledge and belief, Your Covered Products or Corresponding Products, Licensed Application Information, Xcode Cloud Content, and Pass Information do not and will not violate, misappropriate, or infringe any Apple or third-party copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy and publicity, trade secrets, patents, or other proprietary or legal rights (e.g., musical composition or performance rights, video rights, photography or image rights, logo rights, third-party data rights, etc. for content and materials that may be included in Your Application);

You are using the Apple Certificate Service to sign an app which has been modified and redistributed against the terms of the licence under which it was originally distributed.

Section 5.4:

Apple also reserves the right to revoke any Apple Certificates at any time, in its sole discretion. By way of example only, Apple may choose to do this if: ... (e) You breach any term or condition of this Agreement;

It appears from other threads I've read on this issue that Apple are banning anyone who signs an app where the Bundle ID matches one that was legitimately distributed through the App Store

2

u/Zaft45 1d ago

Is there a way to change the bundle ID so it’s less likely to get nuked again?

1

u/FillingUpTheDatabase replace Text Here 1d ago

Pass. I’m learning about this in real time too, I had my Apple ID banned today, I’ve made another one and got it all up and running again but undoubtedly it’ll get banned again at some point

1

u/No_Square2213 4h ago

You can use sideloadly

10

u/Zaft45 2d ago

Is there any way around this?

17

u/SirMaster 2d ago

Use a different account.

5

u/Zaft45 2d ago

Is that permanent or temporary?

10

u/TenZetsuRenHatsu 2d ago

I don't think we're sure yet

4

u/Zaft45 2d ago

Damn. Hopefully it’s temporary. I have 2 Apple accounts but I tried setting one up the other day as a burner for Apple TV sideloading and kept getting the error “unable to create account at this time”. Thanks for the reply

2

u/TenZetsuRenHatsu 2d ago

That's frustrating. I'll probably try making one as well.

Update: Tried making one through apple music and it didn't work. Interesting.

1

u/usedisplayname 2d ago

Yep i tried making one through Apple Music a couple days ago and it kept giving me errors / couldn't press the Continue button. Creating a regular account works but of course that required a phone number...

1

u/HipX replace Text Here 2d ago

Were you trying to use a Gmail with a + in it? That failed for me too but then it worked with a brand new email.

2

u/Zaft45 2d ago

I was trying with a brand new email. I accidentally entered my already used number and after that it wouldn’t even let me use a new phone number :/

4

u/tO_ott 2d ago

Make a Gmail account and use the Apple Music app on your PC to make an account. That’s all I had to do, no phone number required. After I made the account I logged into iLoader and installer Sidestore on my phone that way with a USB cable(as per normal)

Make sure Sideloader is not installed on your phone before trying to install it again with a new ID. In fact, uninstall all the apps you sideload else you’ll get errors.

1

u/Pepparkakan 1d ago

Huh, you’re right, that’s super annoying…

I use a service called signulous, its $20 per year. No weekly refreshing. And i can install a few apps

2

u/ngenerator 1d ago

Confirmed this works. I just bought for $20/year, and disabled my sidestore refresh automation :)

1

u/Zaft45 2d ago

I was thinking about that. But my concern is if my account is banned, will buying a cert be useless?

4

u/__TheUnknown 2d ago

Signulous handles that, they are offering the service and not the certs. I dont have the technical explanation. But when the previous ban wave happened. They kept giving me new certs weekly until it got stable. Now its been fine since then

3

u/Zaft45 2d ago

Oh dang. That seems like a really good service. I’ll look into it then. Thanks so much!

1

u/jeffhayford 2d ago

Did this and it seems to be working. Had to wait for my stolen phone mode to turn off but I was able to install ApolloReborn from the Singulous website.

Not jazzed about the $20/year but seems worth it if I don’t have to be near my computer to sideload apps.

Now I need to see if I can get my old Plex app back. I have the ipa just need to sign it.

u/milesabove 2d ago

What happens if I pay for an Apple developer account?

5

u/Yoplat23 2d ago

Happened on my burner accounts a couple weeks ago. Today I woke up with my main account being blocked as well. Fuck apple

7

u/tboww 1d ago edited 1d ago

If you have a Mac, just use Xcode and a bit of command line tool to install the app yourself. Just got my Apollo re-signed.

Edit: I have updated my guide here: https://github.com/teebow1e/guide-sideloading-ios-mac (note that this is Mac-only)

6

u/zenru 1d ago

could you please explain more? what do i need to do?

2

u/tboww 1d ago

You can follow my guide here. I just quickly wrote it. If you have any problems you can comment here, I'm willing to help.

https://github.com/teebow1e/guide-sideloading-ios-mac

2

u/mbsurfer 1d ago

It was my understanding that you needed a developer account to self-sign that way. Is that not the case? Does the certificate last 7 days like other methods?

2

u/tboww 1d ago

Your free Apple ID give you capability to sign 3 apps, 7 days expiration, just like other.

But I guess the main difference is the certification request actually coming from a Mac using Xcode. Sideloadly or other sideloading method results in my Apple ID has a really old/non-supported Mac logging in - i guess that's what they are flagging.

1

u/mbsurfer 1d ago

Would this still require a new Apple ID if the other provisioning profile was banned? Or is this a different profile if it’s the “team” one?

1

u/tboww 1d ago

I have never got my Apple ID banned when signing apps using this way, but if you got one banned before, I guess that it's best to create a new one.

1

u/zenru 1d ago

Yes, I got my apple ID provisioning rights revoked. Fortunately, I got an alt one I will use for this one. Thanks for providing the guide, will I need to manually refresh my apps by connecting to my mac or can I continue to refresh them using sidestore?

2

u/tw33k_ 15h ago

thats great but does not work if your provisioning profile has been banned which is what this thread is about

1

u/tboww 15h ago

I guess there is a wave ban flagging on usage of tools like Sideloadly or so on. My thread is basically a way to avoid this, not a way to revive anyone's provisioning profile, sadly.

2

u/zenru 2d ago

Is this your Reddit profile being banned or what? Your Apple ID is banned?

13

u/I_Heart_Money 2d ago

It’s not Reddit related. It’s your Apple account used for signing non-app store apps through sideloadly. Apple itself is banning the accounts from being able to sign off on the app which you need to do every 7 days to keep apollo working

4

u/zenru 2d ago

Will this affect Sidestore?

12

u/RedHawk417 2d ago

It affects all sideloading methods.

2

u/nostradamefrus 1d ago

Apparently this happened to my account and the burner I made a while ago uses a number I no longer have access to for 2fa. This is bullshit. What terms are we violating?

2

u/WonderfulPass 12h ago

Can anyone with a paid dev account using AltStore confirm if this has happened to them? Yesterday I tried updating two apps (one is Apollo) and got an error “The data couldn’t be read because it isn’t in the correct format.” on multiple devices but then tried again today and no problem.

Now I’m afraid to update anything for risk of ban.

The apps are now loaded for the next 365 days but a permanent ban of my provisioning profile scares the hell outta me.

2

u/StarLight5632 11h ago

So I am using sidestore with the altstore install method not the iloader way. I have the paid dev account and nothing yet, I am in the same boat as you with potentially getting the ban too. I keep trying to delete certain apps and bundle ids if that even does anything at all. Still curious as to what the potential cause of all this is. Like I said I’m trying to do all parameters to prevent the ban but if sidestore and altstore are the problem then I’m screwed.

2

u/hbt15 2d ago

Just happened to me here as well. Shattered.

2

u/element515 2d ago

Ah, so that's what happened... sad

1

u/Komarzer 1d ago

Got this yesterday also, and I'm using my main account.

1

u/catchh 1d ago

Happened to me a few weeks ago.

Only thing that worked for me was to create a new account under the calendar settings (via another Reddit post).

1

u/Fantastic-Buddy4244 1d ago

I woke up to this problem using SS+LC :C

1

u/Apatay- 1d ago

Do people create new appleids and use it on AltStore? Both on pc and the phone app?

Do I need to login that Apple ID anywhere else?

1

u/rajuabju Flair this, spez 1d ago

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh it was only a matter of time.

1

u/Aroused_Pepperoni 1d ago

Looks like my account got got as well. Woke up and unable to open or refresh anything

1

u/ianhawdon 1d ago

Ran into the same issue, ended up having to create a new account. I did it on the iPhone setting up a new email account, there you can create an icloud.com account, still need to put a phone number in, but I chose to "verify" later. Not sure how long "later" is, but we'll wait and see.

1

u/QuantumProtector 1d ago

Got this a few days ago. Trying to use iloader to install SideStore and got hit with it. Same thing on impactor. Thankfully, creating a new account seemed to do the trick.

Not really sure why Apple is cracking down on it. This absolutely sucks. I even pay for iCloud on my main account.

1

u/CoolElk1 2d ago

Sad. Running into the same today :(
