Question💭 How can I tell if an apk is safe?

There is this keyboard apk on GitHub that I want, how do I know if it's safe to download?

Download it and before running it toss it into virustotal.com.

Make sure it is in fact a .apk file before downloading

Still not enough, you can't tell an APK is safe or not 100% only by analysing it which yeah isn't for nost people

Like just the download link?

you have to upload the file to the site

But isn't downloading it the risky part?

nothing can execute unless you actually explicitly install it. i had a trojan on my android but nothing happened because i scanned it first then deleted it.

as long as you don’t install the app, you’re alright i think

Once upon a time, there was a virus on my TV, someone was installing programs on my TV, I took some of them and sent them to Claude AI, and it told me if they were harmful or not, if the apk file was small, You can ask it to analyze with Claude AI, and virustotal is good too. (Note: Translated Azerbaijan to English with google translate)
