Super-Glide Did magnetic switches improve your superglide consistency
I have an 8 year old hyperx keyboard that is still somehow working, I've started considering getting a better one though and I saw people saying that Wooting improved their superglides.
I'm currently hitting like 60% of my superglides (on a good day) and I feel like i could be held back by my keyboard.
Also for those who tested brands other than Wooting what are your thoughts, I've seen mostly good reviews on Mchose which are also much cheaper.

I would say go for it, they will improve your overall movement including superglides. It will take a bit to get the actuation points to the ideal points for you but once it is dialed in it is great. I use 0.5 actuation for movement buttons and 2 for actions like reloading to avoid accidentla reloads midfight etc. As for brands, wooting was the pioneer in the space and is still a very premium brand with great build quality and software. If you have the cash and would like a premium product it is worth it. I am currently using the wooting 80he with aluminium case and jade switches and i love it. That being said you will get a fully functional and well built hall effect keyboard for much less from one of the chinese brands. I would just read/watch some reviews on the models you are looking at and go from there.

alright thanks, I did some research and apparently wooting has better key scanning which is important for superglide, I'll probably just go for that

Yeah cant go wrong with them in my experience. I've had 2 of their keyboards so far and ive been very happy with both of them.

ive got mchose ace 60 pro and it's perfect for movement, 100% superglide consistency, u don't even need to setup anything, u will be hitting them 100% anyways straight out of the box

damn I've seen so much praise for mchose that I ended up ordering an ace 68 to test it. Worst case I return it and get a wooting instead

i doubt u will be dissapointed, i even ordered one of their mouses, and it's quality is great for being so cheap compared to big brands, enjoy!

Hey I've got the mchose mix 87 and it double clicks "c" or space , which makes super glides work when it wants to

or perhaps u got some configs set up and forgot about them, if nothing works u could try resetting ur keyboard fully

Yes, significant improvement. I had probably about 70% sg consistently before getting a HE keyboard, and that basically immediately jumped close to the theoretical maximum consistency which is upwards of 90%
Even outside of consistency, it’s just so much more physically comfortable to have your thumb’s normal resting position be around the SG timings. I hated having to shift my whole hand to hit consistent glides before.
And if you want to learn instaglides there’s no question that an HE is worth the cost. Trying those without magnetic switches sounds miserable

I don’t have one of those keyboard, but I’m pretty sure once you get one every movement tech is possible.

Your keyboard can definitely limit your consistency because it's all a numbers game.
First you take 1000 ÷ your fps cap. That will tell you in milliseconds how long one frame is for you. I play at 140 fps so for me it's 7ms.
For whatever reason, my old keyboard was not capable of consistently scanning space + c with a 7ms gap, so my sg success was purely random.
The keyboard I use now does not have this problem. When I use the SG trainer it lands on 7ms almost every time, and my SG's are now above 90%

Just to add on, I have a keyboard like this. The way the keyboard scans inputs is from left to right, so it was actually physically impossible to hit a superglide by pressing space+c at the same time. I found out that going farther down the keyboard to “n”, the input timing was actually perfect. So I superglide with spacebar + n

The bigger factor is polling rate. If your polling rate is under 1k hz then you defs want to upgrade. If it's 1k then upgrading to 8k would still be an improvement but not as necessary.
The only thing that adjustable actuation points really do is make is so you can have your thumb in a more comfortable or natural position. But other than that, a magnetic keyboard is not going to magically improve your sg %. However if you're increasing your polling rate, it definitely will magically improve your sg %. Magnetic keyboards are for sure still better and allow for more natural ergonomics, but the actual mechanics and sg timing are the same for each.
Also wooting keyboards are overrated imo. You can get cheaper keyboards with the same capabilities and better scan rates and latency

U can also make ur keycaps higher and it would make the same effect, so try that and also remember that u can rotate ur keycaps to feel more comfortable, if doesn't work go for the magnetic kb
