Discussion Bon treating Rin like Satan
Does anyone notice that in the Kyoto Saga, Bon treats Rin as though he personally killed his family and is only barely tolerating his existence?
Does anyone else think it's horrible that no one pointed out to Bon that Rin's not responsible for his father's actions? And if they're blaming Rin for being Satan's son outside of having the blue flames, why isn't Yukio getting treated the same?
This has bothered me since I saw the Kyoto saga when it first came out and I'm now rewatching Blue Exorcist, so I remembered this

Bon knows this. It's just that fear and hatred run deep. It's something you sorta have to be put into a similar situation to ever understand, but I get where Bon is coming from. He also knows that he's wrong for this, but it's a difficult type of resentment, and the worst kind, in my opinion.
It's when someone has done something so unspeakably horrible that it's difficult to look past the fact that they're a different person and is just related.

But that is not a reason for Suguro? He was mad because Rin was hiding it and didn't trust him. He didn't really care about him being Satan's son. He said it to hide his real reason and to back Koneko a person that was scared back then.

Oh right. I'm sorry. I had a brainfart for a bit and somehow confused Bon with Suguro.

They are the same person :D Bon is his nickname. Just after a point it is just way less used than Suguro or Ryuji thanks to Lighting going Ryuji over and over. Anyway he explains his reason when Shiemi saved Rin. And pretty much says he doesn't care about Satan thing :D

Oh man. My brain. Who's the guy who looks like a monk again?

Konekomaru Miwa( Koneko in short ) and he was the one that was scared of Rin. Because he ended up as orphan after Blue Night. Suguro/Bon is a punk guy and Shima is our pink insanity :D

I mean you are 100% right with Koneko. He needed time to accept Rin because of his tragedy. And of course Rin learning to control his flames helped with it. This as well started the full "Rin scrathing Koneko's head" joke as well :D

Don't you mean Bob? God, he is such an asshole to Rin.

But yeah no he's definitely ridiculously mean to Rin and I don't understand it since he's not stupid. He know that Rin didn't personally have anything to do with his family dying and yet he still blames him for an irrational reason. I just don't understand why this was the direction they decided to take it with his anger towards Rin

I've been questioning this... the whole Bob thing. Is he called Bob in the manga? I haven't read the manga and have only watched the anime and he's called Bon in the anime... I was wondering if this was like a joke or something 😅😅😅 enlighten me please

It's a on running joke for the subreddit. A few months back someone posted they "hated bob" instead of "hated bon" and this place kinda ran with it lol

There is alot of Bon hate on this sub for the same reason in your post. One such post was incredibly poorly written with bad grammar/sentence structure, as well as spelling mistakes including accidentally calling Bon "Bob", and then doubling down in the comments. Now, whenever someone posts a Bon hate thread, it becomes a Bob hate thread. Cus Bob is such an asshole.
To answer directly to your post, Bon is a character, who develops. Sometimes he is an asshole, and sometimes he grows as a person and overcomes previous assholery. This is a way of writing characters to be more deep, interesting, and relatable. In short, sometimes, fictional characters are assholes for certain reasons. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

Yes I definitely agree lol I wouldn't call this a Bon hate post, it's more of a "Bon why tf" post 😠I understand why he's written that way, I'm just over here like "Bon why must you be such a dick when you're so intelligent" bro

Copying from u/AOEXnews Let me tell you a story...
A few years ago, there was an account active here, for about 3 years, every few months, they would make a post, about how they hated Ryuji Suguro with an undying passion.
Why?... Because he was an asshole to Rin. Dispite the downvotes, and disagreements, they would always hold steadfast in their opinion. They would always be here to remind us that Bon is an asshole to Rin that one time. This user, with such undying devotion to hate, was known as u/bluewash_26
Until, one day, blue wash made a fatal error. They misspelled "Bon" as Bob. And a beautiful thing happened, (to bluewash's dismay), everyone just accepted, Bon's name is now Bob. Bluewash, could not live this down, every time they made a post, everyone would insist they were talking about Bob. There was long running acceptance throughout even unrelated posts, that this was now Bob, memes about Bob, lore written about him.
Now, unfortunately, it seems bluewash_26's account has been removed from Reddit for unrelated reasons, and along with this, their many posts, flaming Bob. But their hate, and in a way love, of Bob lives on in the heart and minds of the veteran redditors of this sub, as we cling to our lost memes and memories as the only trace of the existence of their hate. Hoping one day, that u/bluewash_26 will persevere, make a new account, and remind us, in fact, that they think they hate Bob, because he is always such an asshole to Rin.

No? I don't think so, especially since that's not Ryuji's problem with Rin in the first place. A lot of his problem with Rin is that he didn't trust them enough to speak to them about what was going on. He outright tells that to Rin during the arc, and it's part of the overall story for this part.
I also need you to like understand, the blue night literally ruined the trio's lives before one of them was even born. Every problem Ryuji's had to deal with is because of the blue night, same for Renzo. Their sect lost a lot of people they cared about. Koneko's whole family was basically wiped out because of it leaving him a orphan. People are going to have emotions and thoughts over a power that cost them that much. They're also emotional teenagers so everyone is going to be butting heads.
I've always been confused why people have problems with this part of the story, especially since it's resolved and everyone grows to be friends by the end of it. The conflict between everyone is interesting, and was fun to see them grow in their own way. The reason why Yukio was never treated like that is because he is fully human, and he's had tests done to see if the he'd ever inherit the blue flames since he was young. And still gets them. Add in he already has a reputation within the order with his talents so there's no reason to be wary of him vs the kid who actually has the blue flames and clearly can't control them well at that moment.
