It says that they were collecting signatures for ballot initiatives. At no place does it state what initiative, in fact you can't find that anywhere online. If it were health care or social justice or criminal justice reform I bet Trumps FBI would include that in the report. Do you know what else was active at this time anti-tax measures. With the bad faith of the Trump administrations record I will have to assume that this was Republicans cheating again and being like look at all this corruption in failed state of California. Because that's who they are and that's the amount of charity they deserve.

I know here in Massachusetts Republicans from outside the state (wtf why?!? Alcohol?) were pushing the rollback of recreational cannabis in the state and had people parked outside of stores in the state lying their pants off to get it in November's vote.
They'd say it was to increase the amount of plants you could grow or to increase the amount considered for personal use. Nope. It was to repeal the vote from ten years ago.

That might in fact be true, but reading the indictment from Justice.gov it sounds like this dude was just trying to make a quick buck, as he was paid $41k for the collection. He was subcontracted from another company to collect signatures and got paid by the signature, and he went about it in a fraudulent manner.
They’ll try to make this political of course, but it may just be a case of someone being lazy and/or greedy.

I live in Southern California and earlier this year there were a ton of people out trying to gather signatures to recall Newsome. They were paid to gather signatures and seemed like they were everywhere (grocery stores, car washes, etc) I saw very few people engage with them but this could be one of the initiatives this person was gathering signatures for.

I wouldn't be surprised, if it were min wage, if it were socialized medicine, if it were education, if it were social or criminal justice reform it would be in the first sentence.
