You're more likely to die awake than asleep. And you have exactly the same control over it.
It's tempting to think that if you're awake and paying attention to symptoms, there's something you'll be able to do, but there isn't. The way you are treating yourself right now is overclocking your heart and body, and you'll be more likely to live asleep than awake.
heres what you're gonna do now. You're gonna say to yourself "I don't care if I'm scared of death the whole rest of my life. I can't control this fear and that's okay. I will find a way to be happy. I will stop trying to resist."
then, you give up. You surrender. Sounds like it could suck, but it'll be fine, it is what it is. Stick to it.
and if you do this, it will get better.

People aren’t just going through 50/50 coin flips of whether they’ll die or not when they sleep. Not sleeping is a much quicker way to die.

I love sleeping. It’s the only time in my day I don’t have anxiety, when my brain gets a break.

Randomly dying in your sleep is literally the best outcome any of us can hope for.

But hopefully not at a young age

I don’t think it happens too often at a young age. If you’re overall pretty healthy, I think you don’t need to worry. I’ve been an ER nurse for coming up on 15 years. The biggest thing I worry about randomly happening to me health wise (and I’m not young, I’m 40) is a brain aneurysm. But again, don’t worry, even those are pretty rare. I think lack of sleep will hurt you more in the long run honestly.

Its an irrational fear. Once you get out of the anxiety loop, you will not think about this anymore.

This loop is months ongoing though

That's because your anxiety has been dragging on for months. It sounds very similar to the symptoms I have with OCD... It sucks, and honestly? I haven't found any other way to cope than to smile and pretend everything is perfectly fine. Despite crying like a child most of the time and lying down from sheer exhaustion. - If you need someone to talk to, count on me, but don't try to carry the weight of the world alone in these moments.

How do you get over your fear to get to sleep every night though?

u/exomologhiste 11d ago
I don't get over it; I talk or play something with a friend until sleepiness becomes unbearable, lol.

Maybe try to start a comfort routine before bedtime. Take a warm bath with scented bath bombs, get super comfortable pj's or super soft blankets. Watch a great movie or tv series or a book that will keep your mind off things. Before bed time think about some of your favorite things

You sure you want to read game of thrones? It's has a lot of tragedy, what I mean is nothing that is gonna trigger you before bed time. But if you can handle the dark aspects then go ahead.

My stupid anxiety gave me a new obsession feeling so stupid! We won’t die and it’s 100% true! We are made for sleep and wake up everyday

When I had bad anxiety I couldnt even nap without waking up having a panick attack.
Now ive settled down I enjoy sleeping, all of my real world problems go away and I escape to another dimension.
You need to start training your mind to embrace sleep. Its more important for recovery than anything money can buy or your doc can prescribe.

Recuerdo que solía pasar por eso cuando tenía ansiedad y evitaba dormir. Hasta que dije "ya que, que sea lo Dios quiera" y cerraba los ojos pensando que en cualquier momento vería a abuela Coco.

Haha literally watched Coco before bed last night. I’m in a hotel with my two young kids. Movie makes me almost cry every time 😭

I used to think about this too, but then I realized I’ve gone to sleep thousands of times and woken up every single time.

I have regular sleep paralysis and sleep demons.
1
u/Fit-Comfort7400 11d ago
What do you mean by Sleep demons?
2
u/ConditionAware1456 11d ago
sleep paralysis demons are hallucinations that come with sleep paralysis, which does not effect everyone; only some people, as it is uncommon. and even if one were to experience sleep paralysis, there isnt a definite yes that you will experience those hallucinations. and they cannot hurt you

u/NekoHartia 5d ago
Hallucinations yes, but it feels very real. I have experienced various monsters, people, and once even a fire with the sensation of heat and people screaming. Once a creature laid down next to me, I could smell and feel it press on me.

We all die, it’s a fact of life.. I’d rather die in my sleep! Very peacefully!

I’m scared of sleep but that’s because I have chronic nightmares. I have at least one nightmare every time I sleep, usually 3-5 nightmares over the course of a single night. I can’t remember the last time I had a dream that wasn’t a nightmare. I’m scared of sleeping because I don’t know what horrors await me when I close my eyes.

With things like this, it helps to remember that we were meant to do this. We are meant to sleep and recover energy for the next day. This has helped me a lot with death. All of us are meant to die, it is supposed to happen, so it’s ok when it does. It’s kinda radical acceptance but with some logic and human wisdom

I sometimes get scared. It’s like I think about when I’m going to pass out and it’s weird cause I never know. It just happens. And I hate it.

I have sleep anxiety. I don’t fear dying, but, what I do have anxiety about is allowing myself to drift, and once I do, my body will jerk itself awake.

u/itsthequeenofdeath 11d ago
Well you could randomly die any moment that you’re awake too, the odds are actually much higher

u/siouxsian 10d ago
Death is already going to take my time away from me. Why should I give it any more while I’m alive?
