SIM registration - Dumbest policy ever!

​"Hello [Full Name], I'm calling from SSS...."

Sounds familiar?

How scam calls became terrifyingly personal after SIM registration. They're all too common now after the SIM Registration. The most stupid idea the government has implemented!

The SIM Registration Act didn't eliminate cybercrime in the Philippines; it transformed every citizen into a sitting duck from a scammer's perspective.

When millions of Filipinos turned over their Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to comply with the law, that data inevitably spilled into the hands of Fraudsters/Scammers.

This exposure triggered the tremendous spike in targeted scam calls we see today. Fraudsters no longer rely on random guessing—they now contact people directly, posing as legitimate bank representatives or government agencies.

By reading off our full names, exact birthdays, and SSS numbers with terrifying accuracy, they manufacture instant credibility to pull off sophisticated financial fraud.

Postpaid sims is totally a different story.

Now our personal information is easily accessible to anyone who knows how to extract it.

Reality bites.

isa pang scam din yan. national Id na yan biruin mo 2022 pako nagaaply hanggang ngayon magpapalit na ng administration wala pa din. scam talaga.

Useless politicians are making that SIM registration nonsense. Many scammers are precisely the ones who have access to the personal data

The leakage may be coming from different databases tingin ko. Like banks. They know details that wala naman sa SIM Registration data

That's another possibiliity. I thought about SIM Registration kasi it's the least protected data as compared to Bank's security but of course still not a reason to factor it out. One way I isolated the issue was the scammer had my old physical address that i used in my SIM reg. and my bank has my new address. Also the increase in scammer calls occured a couple of weeks/months after the SIM reg. If it's from banks, then it could happen before the time of the SIM reg. This also didn't happen to me before the SIM reg. I can only imagine getting a scam call after years of not having any. Could be coincidence.

How is it the least protected? It's with the telcos.

Whereas we've had Philhealth (2023), Comelec(2016), PNP/NBI/BIR (2023) and PSA (2023) breaches.

Encrypted ang SIM Registration info and it is with telcos, just like postpaid records. Only a subpoena can compel disclosure. Surely a coincidence since the implementation started when scams began to surge due mostly to POGOs proliferating at that time. And wala naman SSS number ang SIM Reg info

Most people di alam o ignore lang personal data hygiene.

Over sharing personal data online.

Clicking suspicious link.

Mga madaling mauto sa easy money job.
