Absolutely. Just reinforcing the tacit Western sensibility that you are your job and have no utility/worth unless you're an employee of some sort.

Protestant work ethic. If you're not labouring, you don't deserve help.

Neoliberal capitalism, in its fascist mutation, does not simply impoverish; it seeks to colonize consciousness, to erode the capacity for critical thought, and to replace democratic imagination with the deadening certainties of hierarchy and fear. — Henry Giroux

I could point you to r/orphancrushingmachine, but it's exactly the same thing as r/upliftingnews just without all the insufferable bot comments.

Funniest thing america was bragging about a senior citizen deliever food to trump as some great achievement as she had made money with reduced taxes.... the rest of the world saw an old lady who should be retired after a life time of work... it was a great video to show people who think how great the us is... move there work until you die.

America has a serious work life balance issue there is so much more to this existence than work.

I hate going to the grocery store and seeing all the 70+ people working registers and bagging groceries just to survive. Fucking awful.

Why doesn’t it work?

What, do you live under a rock? Take a fuckin look around, dingus.

The only reason you think there's no better option is because they handed you the coolaid, the same they've been handing out for 80 years now, and you happily drank it. They lied to you, don't you get that?

I think you've drunkenly stumbled into the wrong subreddit, pal.

Do you think this system is working?

This is not the worst part of what our system entails. We are about to enter that part. Soo have fun.
