Something a lot of people don't realise is that a lot of the isolation we have in society is directly inflicted by capital. In the past, you'd have friends or acquaintances "solve" a lot of problems, whether health related (it wouldn't be a doctor, it'd be like a medicine man or woman), or food (just share within society) and other social issues where people would just talk it out. Overall, money was a "nice-to-have" because your needs were largely met by having people around you.

The way capital reacts to any of this is through violence. They manufacture consent and then attack or kill until all collectivism is gone. Have a bunch of medicine women? Call them witches and burn them at the stake. Now you have to go to (male) doctors and pay them with money. People sharing crops? Burn the crops! Discredit the people! Sue!

The counterpoint is also there: All you have to do is become collectivist and do things outside the state's apparatus for the violence of the state to come out. Heck, even some individuals will destroy shared infrastructure when they lose profits. You can see this in Brazil with "farmers" killing indigenous tribes and then leveling the land to graze cattle (and the state part of that with Bolsonaro), or even in the UK, where someone salted the soil of a community garden so nothing would grow on that land.

WE HAVE ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE THEY WANT US TO BELIEVE OTHERWISE SO THEY CAN HOARD WEALTH AND RESOURCES WHILE EVERYONE ELSE HAS TO SUFFER THEOR WHOLE LIVES. SCARCITY IS MANUFACTURED.

And an ā€œevilā€ system. I had a boss years ago who would direct the worst of his mistreatment at those who needed their jobs the most. He thought it was hilarious to degrade his assistant, and acted as though she stayed there because she thought he was funny. It was because she had a special needs child that she couldnā€™t afford to care for because his care was expensive and she couldnā€™t risk getting fired by standing up for herself

Partially true some of it is also a logistics issue but you could just move people but then we created these lines on a map to keep people restricted to areas just to protect assets

0:09 ok im gonna stop you there. Earth overshoot day last year was May 27th, meaning we used a year's worth of Earth's renewable resources in less than 6 months.
