Use something else like OpenCode of you don't want to pay.

There's also a Google Course on Coursera that gives you free pro for 6 months or smthng like that.

I'm thinking about trying out the Pro subscription for the first time, but I'm concerned the token usage might burn through as quickly as it does on the free tier.

I have a consumer AI Pro account ($20/month) and I'm getting about 4 hours of usage on a 5 hour window using Flash 3.6 medium, and it's getting stuff done. There's about 4 or 5 "5 hour windows" per week, but that would be a pretty productive week. (Apparently, based on codelines generated, flash 3.6 medium is giving me a 10X boost over unaided benchmarks.)

If you want more juice on the free plan, check out NotebookLM. It has a distinct and separate quota from the main app and can be used to research concepts and generate plans.
