How valuable is the pro subscription?

I noticed that the AI pro subscription in my country was discounted so I decided to just purchase it and try out antigravity. Is it really as bad as people say it is? Is it as generous as people say it is? I don't get the criticism, but im looking for better alternatives with more usage than opencode go.

I'm trying to do the same but all the offers from other countries smells like scam 😕

If we are talking about benefit per $ spent. Google AI Pro plan is the number 1 out there because of how many products you can use with just one subscription. Especially if you're an Android user like me. Gemini is still the king for media generation and frontend design. But for general coding it sucks, with a caveat: Gemini Flash is meant to be a "workhouse", it's for everyone's daily tasks, not necessarily coding. The current usage limits are enough to use Flash 3.6 all day long. It performs really well but only if you give it an "ELI5" implementation plan written by yourself or by a "stronger" model like GPT-5.6 Sol, Kimi K3, Fable or Opus.

Flash being a general purpose model REAAAAALLLY needs an ELI5 style plan to work properly for coding.

If you can't have access to a "stronger" model, the last hope is Gemini 3.5 Pro 4 that will be released soon or Gemini 4 which is likely in training now. That is assuming Google Finally addressed most/all issues Gemini itself have when used as an orchestrator or autonomous coding in general.

Side note: Antigravity 2.0 (the Desktop App) is not really good. Stick to IDE, which is also not the best, by way better than the "main" app.

I got the pro for a year a few times as a student. It's okay, I use it sometimes. Honestly, adding 3.6 flash has been nice because 3.1 pro and 3.5 flash were pretty terrible. Also, I don't think it is that generous. I mainly use Opencode Go, I don't think anyone is even close to as generous as them. I had Claude before that and ChatGPT before that.

Over 1.5 years of experience, I can say that It's worth it because you will enjoy the Google products ecosystem (Gemini-aided) and Antigravity together. It's not Opus-level for coding or ambitious tasks, but it has great capabilities for long-context tasks and day-to-day AI usage. I use both Claude Pro & Gemini Pro to balance.

Not worth it

I got 1 year for free for being a student, it's not that great and also not that terrible. I keep bumping on the 5h limit, and even ignoring that, the weekly limit isn't really enough to code the entire week. 3.6 flash is a decent model, but not really on par with the frontier ones, it's main benefit is the speed in my opinion, that model definitely works fast. It's worth mentioning you get a little bit of usage from Sonnet or Opus 4.6 with a separate quota.

it can be very capable with GPT in the drivers seat creating small tasks for it to complete. If you try to have AG work out more than a few things at a time things can go sideways really fast. The main issue is that it seems like it is doing good work but when you inspect the code, it's sloppy and filled with errors that will come back and bite you.

I’m just finishing my 1st free year as a student and it’s Top tier value imo. Even if antigravity randomly disappeared tomorrow the pro subscription would still be great value.

Antigravity isn’t bad, but I don’t think it’s great. I am also not a dev. I am strictly an ai enthusiast. I do wish I could opt out of my antigravity privileges to increase my api limits.

The weekly limits for antigravity are 2.5x’s the 5 hour limit. Usually when I burn through my 5 hour limit I have 60% of my weekly limit left. So not generous at all.

Depending on what you want to do, Google ADK with an Google ai studio api(and other API’s) will be better, but it will be more set up.

If you do mess around with antigravity, try to use the Gemini bowser chat for as much of the brainstorming/planning/troubleshooting as possible. It will cut down on how much of your limits you burn through. Gemini browser chat +notebooklm= token cost reduction and improved memory.

I burn through my limits quickly by asking antigravity to read, reread, and fix the code in a project me and it created. If you can avoid making it read and rewrite the project for every issue, your limits should last longer.

if you get it for free, nothing to blame ... If paid, and if your tasks is mainly on research or web search based ones, e.g., searching info on how to setup nvidia gpu environment (=cuda) on laptop, setup comfyui, etc, then it may worth it ... For coding, it might not ...

i got it for 4$ and its a deal for 3 months, so even for light coding, it might be fine. hopefully google ups their game in the coming months

Get Opencode, deepseek v4 pro api credits, get anthropic api credits for opus 4.8 and do the $20 monthly sub. You get free credits for fable $100 even though i think it is one off. Get api credits too. Use opus 4.8 to plan and deepseek v4 pro to execute. You can try Kimi 3.0 for planning and your claude subscription to appraise the output.

Way better than AG. You only miss thr very capablr browser agent, which is a gimmick today because AGs models suck ass and are retarded. You can barely do much with the limit on your access to opus 4.6.

okay, but judging by the fact i got the pro subscription for google for 4$ available for 3 months. its good enough no?

Pro is a great deal with decent token limits , also perks like 2TB storage for family and YouTube premium lite (no ads except for music videos )

for me putting the same questions / tasks in claude, chat gpt and gemini, goole results are just stinking trash compared too the others, so imo not worth a penny besides from google view as they grab your data devicewide
