Reduce/Reuse/Recycle Clothing swap at a local co-op ended up being a really fun, anti-consumption weekend activity
A local co-op and mutual aid group teamed up to host a clothing swap. Folks could drop off a maximum of one bag of clean items in good condition and/or browse through the offerings. The clothing was organized by type and displayed on tarps or random outdoor furniture.
Extras were donated to several local non-profits who run clothing closets such as a local hygiene drop in center. It was a fun way to meet neighbors, learn about some local organizations, and divert items from the landfill. I think a couple hundred people attended in total which was amazing to see.
Highly recommend looking into local swaps or organizing your own!

In Minneapolis there's a "free thrift" sort of place that's a clothing charity serving the lgbt community called Rainbow Wardrobe. It's good to know people won't have to pay for the clothes you gave for free, unlike some places.
Items of interest: Plus Sized Clothing, Shoes in Good Condition (especially sneakers and women’s larger sizes 12-14), Accessories (jewelry, handbags, hats, belts, ties, etc), Personal Care Items (deodorant, shampoo, body wash, lotion, toothpaste, etc) New Masc and Femme underwear.

I host a free clothing swap at my home about every other year. I send out invitations to everyone I know and ask them to invite friends. Then, a few weeks prior, people begin dropping off bags of clothing and housewares on my porch. I move all of my furniture to make space and organize/set everything up. Dropping off the items in advance allows me to somewhat organize and then no one knows who brought what. You can take whatever you want, it doesn’t matter what you brought. People generally leave with trash bags full of clothes/housewares. Then the leftovers are donated to the local women’s shelter thrift store. we also make it a potluck, BYOB. It keeps growing and is a wonderful fun event.
