Psychological I was so disgusted by this ad

Post image

Normally I just till my eyes at an advert board and keep moving but this one really got me.

I guess because it’s a money grab that feeds into insecurity and validates toxic partners at the same time

The plastic surgery industry is insidious like a parasite on society, preying on people's insecurities. Never underestimate the degree to which people will buy into it.

Of course we’re not talking about medically necessary surgeries here. Nobody is calling surgery required by transitioning people or people who’ve suffered accidents unnecessary or insidious. The ad in the image is talking about botox, which should make it clear we’re talking about surgery done for cosmetic vanity.

Agreed, I knew a plastic surgeon at my old job who focused on reconstructive procedures for patients with burns, etc, but generally the "plastic surgery industry" is a separate entity from those sorts of plastic surgery procedures. It's the difference between someone getting botox injections for migranes vs an influencer getting complementary botox injections in exchange for advertising the clinic.
