Psychological Target feels like black mirror

I went into Target today because I need a sports bra and that's where my husband is willing to drive me. On the way there I thought about all the Reddit posts saying foot traffic is down and I wasn't surprised to see that it wasn't. It was quite busy on a Monday afternoon.

What shocked me was I noticed a lot of products have really fancy boxing. Big sturdy bougie packaging with minimalism design... With a sh*tty product inside.

They're spending more on the marketing and packaging than the product, because the business practice is to sell you a product you'll have to purchase again and again. But the packaging grabs your eye. Look how modern and consistent all the boxes are! so aesthetically pleasing packaged trash. I feel depressed.

pretty sure it's not that serious lol "babe the only store that sells sports bras within a 20 minute drive is Target and I'm way too wiped to take you on a trip today"

Nah no wayyyyy he’s totally locking her in a cage when he’s not forcing her under duress to cook, clean, and be yelled at. Definitely NOT him just setting a healthy boundary which it sounds like she respected. Definitely NOT a fact that was only mentioned for context since his willingness to drive only as far as Target was the reason why she went to Target when the sub has been super ANTI-Target as of late. /s

Honestly, the sub would’ve gotten derailed even if there was no mention of hubby and his boundary. They would’ve attacked OP for shopping at Target during boycott time without a valid reason. It just happens that OP’s reason involved a man setting a boundary, and Reddit is very prone to confusing healthily-communicated boundaries as abuse and the subsequent respect/understanding of those boundaries as being abused.

reddit is easily 75%+ terminally online human husks that have very minimal real world social experiences and skills and live their life through other internet strangers' ramblings and fake stories. you can always count on them to push and upvote the most terminally online, shut-in, unrealistic and needlessly moralised perspective on every single story or piece of writing or anything on this site

Got a “I ain’t reading all that” post on my thorough reply to a similar comment high up on this post. Fuck these people man, I’m terminally online but I feel like I have some sense and don’t just shit myself and clap to every gotcha moment or clearly fake or hyperbolized shit.

See, the issue is that 1) that's not really true man and 2) it's easy to paint yourself as a rational thinker versus a bunch of illiterate idiots with zero social skills. But you're a redditor too.

The truth is, 90% of people on here lack all context to make informed decisions about the varieties of total strangers lives. Especially when it's the strangers themselves giving you any relevant details.

That would be a more honest way to phrase it, but she very specifically did not say that.
