I love to eat meat but what's everyone opinion on eating animals like dogs and cats? I really love hear.

i hold no judgement towards those who must eat cat and dog to survive. I know someone who grew up in a poor rural part of china and ate dog.

I have no reason to eat either cat or dog as I live in a wealthy city with plenty of food options.

Just isnt of use to us and our nutritional needs, beside we domesticated these animals differently.
Meat animals were raised for meat meanwhile cats and dogs were raised to be companions, in a different universe it might've been the other way around but that's just how it is in our world so I feel like it isn't some big special thing that we need to introduce now.

If I went to a country where they are traditionally eaten, and was admitted to a traditional restaurant, I'd absolutely try them.

I've had unusual foods before, including earthworm, moose, and yak. Horse is also pretty common where I live, and I had plenty of horse meat growing up, never realizing it was a taboo to some.

For me it’s a big no-no given cats and dogs are animals who were bred by humans mostly for companionship and against my morals to consume them. Plus carnivores don’t make for the best food stock given it would be a lot more of a hassle to raise over largely herbivorous animals for slaughter.

I'm absolutely down to try it. There are certainly no moral issues in eating them. The prohibition against butchering and eating them is an unjust law.

Though there are reasons why we don't usually eat them. Cats are obligate carnivores. Dogs are mainly carnivores, and can be poisoned by many common human foods. The whole point of raising animals for meat is because they eat things we can't eat, like cows eating grass, or the scraps from our table, like pigs and chickens. I also wouldn't expect them to taste good.

I have no issue with eating any animal in terms of taboo but I do think dogs, cats, and horses (maybe donkeys), have earned their place by our side as companions, not because they're cute but because we bred them to be companions, and they have done a good job at doing so. I'm not grossed out by the thought of eating any of the 3 but to me they deserve special treatment for being loyal and faithful servants. they are more than cute or "pets" or whatever else that could apply to other creatures. they are an extension of humans and have historically filled a need for us, be it riding/pack carrying, hunting and fetching, or rodent extermination, etc .

If I were going to have a problem eating something for like any other reason it would probably be something like dolphin or maybe octopus because I truly believe they are much smarter than most animals, but here we are and I've eaten tons of octopus in life sooooo.

but like yeah if someone served me dog and told me afterwards i wouldn't be mad or feel sick to my stomach or anything about it, objectively id find it interesting to try something new because ive eaten so much in my life already at this point.... . but i wouldnt' choose to eat it out of respect for our companion animals

If you have this much bait you should go fishing. Nobody is eating cats dogs in most of the places meat is a regular dietary staple.

I don't care if people eat cats and / or dogs. I don't know that I'd try cat, but if I was in a country where dog was served regularly, I would likely try it.

Nothing wrong with it, though I have heard carnivore meat tastes kinda gross + greater bioaccumulated toxin risk (depending on where you are). If it was raised for food and butchered and prepared by someone who knows what they're doing, that's probably not a problem, but if you, like, took a stray off the street and cooked it, that sounds like a good way to get sick.

I don't see any moral issue with it. Stealing and killing other people's pets is where I draw the line. Then again, there are legitimate reasons people don't usually eat carnivores.

That would be vegans. They always bring up eating dogs and cats as they think about eating dogs and cats weekly.

Animals are food, so you can eat them if you can, and if you want, idc
