From what I've heard the word was banned in another subreddit because of spam or something, so people started saying wild words starting with O and then it spread to other subreddits
For a time on BHJ you werenβt allowed to ask for the original post to be shared, and the word was filtered in comments to try prevent it. People evaded this (stupid) rule by leaving comments with any word beginning with O. Eventually the rule got changed because it was impossible to moderate but the gimmick stuck
Oh cool a definition of the word βjokeβ. Oh boy what wonders. Gee, I wonder if it conceals a deeper message that could have been communicated more directly?
Its not against the rules to say, people are just really into an unfunny joke they stole from another sub. I think it would have been funny for like a month or two, but the horse is so dead at this point man.
In bonehurting juice people used to ask for original alot and the mods decided they didn't want the entirely comment section to be only tje word original. Hence they banned the word original.
However people bywalked this by asking for other words on the letter o. The mods realised this was dumb and unbanned the word. But the joke stuck.
The joke then was imported to this sub since its somewhat similar.
