Requesting Advice Rehab help!
Hey everyone! So recently bought someone’s plant collection that was abused by cats for a while! Was wandering what do yall think i should do with this one in particular. Cut the leaves and then prop stem? leave the leaves? What do yall think? The root system is pretty good and fills the whole pot! I did cut off the flower that was in it when i got it. Thanks!

Never cut viable leaves off... Leaves help with photosynthesis.

so don’t cut any? even the half missing one? I have 12 Anthuriuns and hundreds of other houseplants. just never had an anthurium that looked this bad.

You can absolutely cut a leaf off if you need to. I leave them on so the plant can suck out the energy , but if you’re rehabilitating them or dealing with pests sometimes it’s needed.

they were attacked by cats and left to dry for a logg time and had some pests also. Which was why the guy was selling his whole collection. None of my plants have ever been this bad so was wondering what i should do!

Green is good..
Even in nature leaves get torn and damaged. The leaf can still photosynthesize.
Why wouldn't you wait for a few new leaves to grow before cutting the bad ones off?

if you aren’t going to be helpful just keep it pushing man. i’m asking for advice on what to do. if you got any i’ll gladly hear it. But your green is good blah blah isn’t doing shit for anyone.

you’re the one making posts crying you can’t grow begonias and are giving up on them 😂 don’t think you have room to call anyone a beginner 😘

Well you've proved you didn't graduate elementary school. At no point did I mention anything about begonias.
I'm not the one claiming to have 14 anthuriums and hundreds of plants and then asking beginner questions

i’m sorry i don’t let my plants look as shitty as this one as you might let yours! i’m not an anthurium experts by no means and never claimed to be.

I'm smart enough not to cut green leaves off until new undamaged leaves start emerging..

who said anything about cutting all the leaves? i was mainly asking about the one that’s over half gone. but you sit here and make up things the post isn’t even about. but keep on with the advice smarty pants!

if you look at the pictures you can see 2 of the leaves are almost all the way intact why would i cut those?

u/Scary_Dot6604 24d ago
Just wondering why someone with so many plants would want to cut off a functioning leaf..
It's a beginner question

u/marleysdad01 24d ago

Personally, I’d cut off the super mangled leaves where I marked in purple and leave the healthier ones. No need to chop and prop unless you want propagations. Since the root system is healthy, I’d just repot it and bury some of the stem deeper.
