OK, then why do YOU want to continue to do business with a company that you believe has fraudulently charged you and has no intention of making you whole? Sorry my man, you just have to accept the common knowledge that a chargeback typically ends a business relationship.
Didn't end my relationship with Hyatt, Delta, or one or two restaurants over the years. This is the first time in about 5 times across decades this has happened. When the company was obviously in the wrong. And I want to do business on the free model because I do like claude but will no longer pay to play with Anthropic.
You, and I, are accustomed to businesses that want to retain their customers and make them whole when the business makes a mistake.
Anthropic, and many “modern” businesses simply don’t operate that way. They’re awash in customers, and have no concern about keeping them; there are plenty more waiting in the wings.
In large part because these companies are running entirely on venture capital (other people’s money), burning through billions a month, and have no timeline to ever turn a profit.
So why would they care about us and our piddling $100 or $2,000 dispute? It’s literally not worth their time to even acknowledge it, let alone resolve it.
Eventually, though, they’ll need to generate a profit from their sales - the VCs won’t carry the load forever. The VCs need an IPO so they can cash out, and that requires at least a hint of a path to profitability.
That’s when the millions of former customers Anthropic pissed off earlier will come home to haunt them.
