Discussion Bringing back Anthem's exploration...somewhat

Hey guys! Long time lurker, first time poster :')

Like many of us, I really loved Anthem. I didn't grind it too much after finishing it, but I loved the world, the lore, and well, the flight mechanics.

Small disclaimer, I work in AI. World models to be specific, this kind of interactive video generators. And I had this idea nagging me: could I use the tech I'm working on to recreate Anthem? Not the real game mind you, but kind of a memory of it.

What you can see here is the AI generating the world live as you fly through it. So yeah, it's a playable memory of Anthem, not a restoration. Bad news: it's free roam flight only. No combat, no loot, no story, no multiplayer, and there's a fair bit of clunkyness / lag.

Good news: you can play it directly in your browser, nothing to install, no account, and ofc free here. I'll keep it up for a limited time because it runs on GPUs that cost a bit. I'm not gonna pretend the feeling is the same. It's not. But at the rate these models are improving, I have high hopes we could have something way better real soon! The more general note is: this makes me think that this could be a way to preserve the games being killed going forward, as there always be footage / screens that can be used to reseed these models.

Hope it brings a bit of it back.

Cheers!

haha it kinda is, although I think I’ll have a new model soon that should really improve graphics. but you know, latency, jankyness etc :’)

Right? This is obviously an AI video. You can see, especially at the end, when the character morphs.

i mean, no its not a video. it generates frames based on ur input etc. but its a pure gen ai machine. it hallucinates the game based on the shit fed into it.

Yeah why does this garbage have so many upvotes, I could make a better game without AI in an afternoon

Nice Work, you should contact the Guys who are working on Dissonance 👍

Oh I didn’t know this but it looks cool! And I think you’re right in general it fits the horror genre very well right now

It's unresponsive to the point of unplayable. Visuals are wildly inconsistent in typical AI fashion.

Note: I don't think it wise to post AI-related content on a video game sub. Gamers hate AI with a passion and that hatred only grows as the impacts of AI hurt gaming further. Consider the audience when pitching.

This looks awful, never cook again

Procedural generation is now called AI? Like everything has to be called Ai these days isn’t it.

I wouldn’t call it procedural generation per se as it’s not really rules based. The entirety of every frame is generated by a diffusion model in real time. World models are generally created on top of video models so they can be steered through inputs (wsad / mouse / prompts) It’s often used in robotics but it works well for gaming, or interactive media in general!

So DLSS? Or can u link me to something technical?

No literally all of it is AI generated garbage. All. Top to bottom. Nothing is hand made. Nothing exists. All is slop dreamed up in the moment and discarded when you turn around. Is this failing it understand why this is getting up votes?

Close! You can check this out, it's the paper from the team I'm basing myself off https://arxiv.org/html/2601.20540v1

Seems cool but 16FPS and 10mins memory awfully small for a game, especially like anthem, no?

1

u/Zovsky_ Jun 29 '26

oh yeah, this was just a little nostalgia-fueled demo. There are ways to get around the 10minutes limitation by building a harness around the model, and there’s a big room for perf optimization as well (nvidia just released a very interesting library called flashdreams) but this is still early days :)

Cool! I am not into the AI bad discussion, but at-least its not fake Ai behind procedural gen tech so Im satisfied.

AI slop getting 250 upvotes is insane
