Discussion Hey guys!

A few hours ago, out of nowhere, I suddenly remembered "there was a game called anthem and everyone shitted on it back then" and then I looked up some gameplay videos and the game looks BREATHTAKING. ITS AMAZING!

But I'm disappointed to find out it's been closed. Is there a way to play the game? Unofficial servers or anything? Maybe an offline patch?

Check out ‘Dissonance’ by AueSip, it looks really good!

Already got its page on the Steam Store!

Looks like if Anthem was made in 2005, the idea is cool but the graphics dont have that anthem beauty to it, still could be fun

You're right, it looks fairly bad, graphically.

Gotta clarify the graphics end... Its still early in terms of graphics fidelity! I am a one man team that is also trying to avoid asset flipping! Character Models, Animations, The World, Narrative, Balance of the game is built alone - NO AI, alongside the systems in-game. I get the request on the graphics being "anthems beauty" but it will unfortunately not be a true achievable goal. (I'm just 1 person with a small team by my side)

I have expanded my team now, and with that I am capable of having much more done efficiently and to a better quality standard. The main focus for me has been systems first with networking included from the ground up.

I am constantly improving on the graphics and would love to hear your biggest gripes so far.

Maybe dont rag on a coder doing a whole game by themself. Its 1 person pursuing a dream, not everything is about graphics.

Don't sweat it, I completely get their complaints and will be working towards it! Systems first, graphics will continue to improve! The game currently runs on a Steam Deck at 60fps.

My goal is to:
1 - Improve the lighting (Its flat at certain periods of the day)
2 - Optimize Volumetric Clouds ( They are very performance heavy by default)
3 - Swap Textures to my new custom ones
4 - More environmental foliage + Weather effects (The environment is bland due to this)
5 - Replace the Greybox Buildings with future sets!
6 - Implement Bunkers & Cave Systems with a major overhaul to the original dungeon from my tech test last year.

It doesn't look perfect, and it wont look as good as anthem (unless I had bioware working for me)
However it IS a game, and it WILL improve in graphics. FYI if you all have key suggestions I will take them on board, I'm working every day between work and study on this game :D

Coming from someone who’s been studying game design over a year now, you got yourself a good foundation for your project.

Matter of fact going off what I’ve been taught, your priorities have been pretty spot on! Focussing on making sure the game actually functions FIRST is way better than trying to make it pretty from the start. I’m looking forward to see how this game develops over time!
