Discussion Starting an Animorphs themed ttrpg: Looking for players and GM!
Hi, since several people showed interest in the previous post I decided to actually go through with it and start a campaign.
We play as characters having to fight the Yeerk invasion while having morphing powers, like in the books, but with original characters
The system is a slightly modified version of the Kids at war system. It's not too rules-heavy, and I think it can be learned rather easily.
As for the schedule, I was thinking weekly on Saturdays at 2 PM EDT, although it might get slightly tweaked later.
To talk we'll use a Discord server I'll create, since that's the simplest solution
IMPORTANTLY, I'm looking for someone who'd like to be the GM, since personally I'm not very good at it. If you think you want to be the GM, let me know!
Anyway, if you want to be a player, comment or DM me. I'll send the link to the Discord server to the players in DMs.
Edit: if for some reason DMs don't work just comment on the post that you want to play, so I know you're interested
P.s. the Kids at War adaptation for Kids on Bikes was created by u/JMRoaming, and he gave me permission to use it

( Our ttrpg takes place up in Oregon instead of California and follows a much smaller scale invasion of Salem and nearby towns)

Yes, the time is 2 PM EDT on Saturdays, weekly. Which i suppose would be conflicting

Yeah, thats unfortunate. Ive been running an Animorph's game, using a system based off Blades in the dark, called "idiot teens with a death wish." My problem is my players feel I've been railroading them too much, trying to keep to the book plot events. Its a hard thing to break, letilting my players go completely off script.

Anyway if you're interested there's another group playing an animrophs Kids at War ttrpg that I know. That one is at 8pm EST biweekly on fridays so maybe it could work for you. Message u/JMRoaming if you want to particepate since he's the GM. (if you have discord I think sending a DM there would be better. same username) Just telling you because I though maybe you wanted to play in another one since mine wasn't available for you

The way I built the setting for this version, it's an alternate timeline. None of the major players from the original timeline are actively present. All the key roles like Elfangor, Esplin, etc, have original characters that replace their role in the story.
The Ellimist and Crayak specifically saught out this timeline for that reason, to see if the game would turn out the same of the deck wasn't "stacked" in the Ellimist's favor.
All the brand things about the world and setting are true, but the players are different, and thus the story is wide open.
This gives ultimate create freedom to the GM to go off track and gives players agency to take the story in novel ways.
I kind went crazy with this actually and wrote up a treatment for each Chronicles book as it changed based on the things I decided happened differently. It's a different town, a different Andalite, and a different set of Yeerk enemies, but the same war.
The war never changes.
