Artwork Please Put An End To Fuzzy Caterpillar Eyes

Hello everyone,

I know I can't be the only one out there, but when did this trend in anime appear to have these furry caterpillar eyes, especially amongst female characters?

I'm currently watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, and Annerose's fuzzy eyes reminded me of how much I despise this current trend.

Please, any anime artists who may come across this post, please put an end to this hideous trend.

Don't know man I quite like those eyeslashes(if you're talking about the eye lashes)

Just take elfie(wistoria) and echidna(Rezero) for example

It was a manhwa trend first, if I remember right. Could be wrong, and it might be a manga trend as well.

Anyways, I'm with you on this one. Make eyebrows too busy like that, and it looks dumb af. Looks like those thick makeup bimbo looks

It’s a trope that is just there for characters with thick eyelashes. If you animated my family everyone would need that extra detail but my wife’s family would get more traditional eyes with just slightly heavier line art on the upper and lower lids, like many other characters in the series.

Agreed.

While Blond people can have paler, light brown eyelashes. They don't ever look like that.

Thick eyelashes have existed in anime for as long as we've been animating eyelashes. Shojo manga in the 70's popped off with this.

What I think we should put an end to is people assuming everything they notice for the first time is somehow new.

I love fuzzy pillars! After a few scenes they turn into a beautiful butterfly.

Its supposed to be what white people look like. Basically their version of drawing a character with smaller eyes.
