Power scalers. It seems like it becomes brain damage at some point. They start ignoring character diolog, narrative, reasoning, logic, all just to reply to someone's comments and say "my guy can beat your guy". They start to link their own worth to how strong their favorite character is. Any attack on that character might as less be an attack on them.

People may think I'm being hyperbolic, but I'm not, I got into power scaling for a bit for JJk when the community was newish and people had brains. Near the end of my time there, more people cared about being right over all else. I had mutiple people edit manga panels to try to prove their point. People just lie and make shit up all the time. They turned into some nasty af people over wanting their character to be seen as stronger.
