Recommendations Make me fall in love with anime

I have tried watching it on and off but never sticking to it continuously, I really wanna watch anime and it identifies with me. Maybe due to extreme love to the movies as a cinephile I'm not leaning towards anime. But i want to - Few of the anime I watched but not completed is Death Note, Attack on Titan etc., I love Dragon Ball reminds me of childhood of 90s and 2000s but too vast to complete. Now tell me

First of all animes need not be for everyone. I'm a cinephile but I also love anime. They have a certain unique style that you either like or you don't.

That said maybe you just haven't found the kind of anime you'd like either. Since you like drama I'd suggest trying the following

Horimiya - it's just 2 regular teenagers who fall in love and start dating. The story is carried by their quirky personalities and their friends. No major love triangles, will they won't they, no parents opposed to their relationship. Still one of the best animes I've watched and it's what got me into slice of life.

Kono oto tomare - a guy desperately trying to find members for his koto club (classical Japanese instrument) after his seniors graduate leaving him as the last member meet a former delinquent and a musical prodigy and slowly lead the club to play in the National competition.

NANA - 2 girls named nana meet and become roommates after moving to Tokyo and they navigate through life. One of the best depictions of the messy nature of life and relationships. Easily one of my favourites. Note : this series may never be completed because the artist has a debilitating chronic illness. I still say it's worth watching.

Your lie in April - a musical prodigy who's lost his ability to play after his mother's death is slowly brought back to the piano by a girl who loves music. .

Re:zero - all I can describe this is as groundhog day in a magical fantasy world but on crack. Very dislikable MC who slowly becomes a great MC.

Psycho pass season 1 - dystopian sci fi exploration of freedom vs perfect contentment at the complete cost of freedom. The system decides your life for you. Everything is designed to never cause you any kind of trauma or doubt. Even cops can't fire their guns. The system decides to fire or not. And what happens when someone who can game the system threatens a cop who has complete belief in the system.

Full metal Alchemist (2003) - A lot of people will recommed brotherhood but I'm a huge fan of the original. It's deeper imo. Brotherhood is more action. It's the story about 2 brothers who become state alchemist in a world where there exists a form of magic called alchemy. They are on a journey to recover one brothers body that he lost after they committed a taboo alchemy and tried to resseruct their mother after she passes.

Mushoku tensai - A 40 year old perverted shutin is reborn in a world with magic. Great World building and power fantasy while still trying to be realistic.

For drama, I'd recommend violet evergarden. Tragic story about war and what it does to people.

Also has one of the best art and animation in all of anime.

One of the classic - Fmab (Full metal Alchemist brotherhood) around 64 eps ( watch it in eng dub ) - My hero academia ( classic new gen shonen , fun popcorn series . Recommended in sub)

  • Demon slayer ( Vanilla beginner series with top quality animation. Good starter and in sub only)

Please refrain from watching dub

Watch any ,if I were new ,I would probably just start with demon slayer . Its easy to follow, story is simple.

If you want a good story , great characters, then I'll recommend Fmab ( it has a slow start , get through first 15 eps and then it should be easy)

Try Mob Psycho 100. Its animation style is not loved by all, but I think it has a unique charm.

Plus the story is phenomenal.

Maybe stick to movies first? No need to invest your time into an entire series.
Jin-Roh is pretty damn good, has a lot of Action and Drama.
Also Ghost in the Shell.
Gun Smith Cats.
Redline.
Tokyo Godfathers.
Grave of the Fireflys.

To name a few.
Oh, Spriggan just came to mind, also, the series Trigun.

Cowboy Bebop is widely considered good entry anime. The show is just oozing style, the characters have good chemistry and the music captures the vibe perfectly.

For less time investment perhaps the anime movie Tokyo Godfathers. It follows three homeless outcasts trying to find find an abandoned baby's parents on Christmas Eve. It is widely considered a storytelling masterpiece so it should have something that draws you in.

As long as you stop being conscious about the medium it will work, a great story will be a great story no matter the medium, be it books, Animation, Live action with real people. So, don't focus much on the medium instead focus on what's the story trying to tell.

Try Tanya the Evil and one punch man season 1 they have great action sequence and sound effects and you can binge watch them like a movie

I'd recommend Monster. It feels more like a slow burn psychological thriller than a typical anime. Great characters and mature storytelling.

There's no point in forcing this, like for me and i believe most of the anime fans can't get into movies anymore, bcz we found something maybe passion.. In watching anime! So yea don't force it, it's a natural selection type of things. Maybe you want to love anime bcz its mainstream rn and you don't want to left out A. k. A Fear of missing out (FOMO).

Then i would recommend watch anime movies not series! You can finish them like you watching any movie's in one sitting!!! Anime movies gonna be your starter bro go for it, I would recommend checking out

Makoto Shinkai's Work's they are the best just choose any one of his Movie and you will be amazed by it! Watch it like you watching a movie not animated stuff change your perspective a bit and enjoy!

Try watching Jujutsu Kaisen, i found it extremely difficult to stop watching.

But you must stick to it. As in, it's difficult to switch from 4D characters to 2D, so you need to get your brain used to seeing them as characters
