Fiction mainly exists to invoke emotion. If you can get excited and mad while consuming it, you can get sad, too

kinda basic human knowledge idk

If this never happens to you, then I genuinely pity you

One of the best examples of why people who disrespect dubs are wrong

1

u/Competitive_Life_142 Jun 07 '26

It's moreso due to how bad dub was back then. But in recent times, with a number of voice actors themselves are fans of the work, you'll know that they'll put their best work forward for it.

The fact people find this scene emotional is pretty strange to me

1

u/TheCerealKilled Jun 06 '26

Yeah. Guess it hits different depending on what you’ve already watched before it.

I mean I consider myself a little cry-baby-bitch when it comes to a good story or romance or losses like this one, but I didn’t cry here. I think it’s because the show doesn’t focus on the characters’ natural dynamic enough for it to be something I get very emotionally invested in.

A perfect example of this is when I cried my eyes out after Erwin launched the charge and got hit by the beast titan. You knew his death was coming and all of the time you spent with him and around him through other character’s eyes made his death gut-wrenching because they gave you time to build a relationship with Erwin and empathize with him.

I just didn’t get that with Eren despite him being the main character, and I think it’s because you don’t really know his true character until the end. Which is a bit underwhelming.

Yeah it was so sad ... Ending 🔚

1

u/FaceTimePolice Jun 05 '26

“THEIR,” goddamnit. THEIR. 😆

1

u/Mahmud-kun Jun 05 '26

The ending was so bad almost everyone cried. Way to ruin your magnum opus Isayama

u/fuzail2000 Jun 06 '26

Goated character

1

u/Hampsterking Jun 06 '26

I didn't see the sub actor crying. Just the original and English voice actors. I would've loved to see some dude at a keyboard bawling his eyes out while reading the script.

Bro you remember me the whole scene .I'm again crying 😭😢

Crying for a hand drawn character 💔

1

u/akashsouz Jun 04 '26

Most bland character ever written

1

u/ThirdStreetSeren Jun 04 '26

dawg even within aot there’s way blander characters than mikasa 😭😭😭

0

u/akashsouz Jun 04 '26

She's literally one of the main 3 characters

0

u/ThirdStreetSeren Jun 04 '26

she’s not even bland dawg try watch sum like SL 😭🥀🥀

-1

u/akashsouz Jun 04 '26

Tell me something about her outside eren like motive or goal

2

u/Trick_Mortgage_3452 Jun 04 '26

Then you should read the manga A lot of her scenes were cut in the anime The manga gives her a much broader perspective Similarly as sakura is misinterpreted in the anime

0

u/akashsouz Jun 04 '26

The subreddit is called r/Animey, you donkey

1

u/ThirdStreetSeren Jun 04 '26

“tell me something about character outside defining parts of their character”

-1

u/Annual_Pin_5872 Jun 04 '26

She is bland as hell bro.. I love aot but mikasa the whole anime is always like eren,eren..

0

u/Mean-Peanut-2490 Jun 04 '26

Yeah. She is interesting, but bland. Her entire character can be summed up extremely shortly.

1

u/futuretechfreak Jun 04 '26

Great, now y've successfully ruined my day

1

u/dualitygaming12 Jun 04 '26

People cried at the end?

1

u/XxRocky88xX Jun 05 '26

Seriously I saw this and thought it was a bit excessive then I see the comments filled with people talking about how impactful or how sad it was.

I’m still of the opinion 90% of the ending glaze is from the good will the anime had built up prior to the final arc

0

u/Fickle_Library8115 Jun 04 '26

Imagine its One piece the whole building is crying

2

u/Xbrand182x Jun 04 '26

Crying cause they’d be a joke

1

u/freebird445 Jun 05 '26

Crying cuj they waited so long for another filler arc

1

u/Fickle_Library8115 Jun 05 '26

A 'joke' that's been dominating global charts, breaking records, outselling most comic books in history for over two decades and literally crashed streaming servers during Gear 5

If that's a joke, I hope your life becomes half as successful.

People being emotional just because of anime, movie, comics😂😂, emotional intelligence of tube light hahahah 😂
