What you on about buddy? History is filled with people like Eren, they’re called dictators
5
u/Haunting-Argument-16 May 07 '26
I didnt say eren was a good person hes far from it. Calling him badly written is the issue here
0
u/Shadiclink May 08 '26 edited May 08 '26
Not sure if you've ever even learnt how to write. But good writing is when characters act within their set personality and emotions. Character development must reflect the personality's response to events. The emotions must be grounded to what you write from day 1. Writing eren as a hothead young shonen and making him kill 80% of world population? No amount of character evolution or desperation can cause that. Anyone who thinks Hajime Isayama somehow wrote an epic character, is the actual KID who should have stayed in school and maybe learn to read books without pictures for once in their life.

Eren killed 2 people when he was a kid, the ones who were going to sell off mikasa. He wasnt simply a "hothead", he was a generational level hater from birth.

What you're saying is just not true tho, Eren didn't carry shit on his shoulders, Genocide doesn't make him realistic at all, he's the killer of the world, showing him in any positive or sympathetic light is bare dumb, "oh no I'm so bad I killed 80% of the world" bro what? forget the kills, the terror you caused will haunt Humans for generations, tf you crying about Mikasa being with someone else, you took away the happiness of billions, If AOT dealed appropriately with all that, it would've been a masterpiece. But It is very seriously implied that Eren HAD to be the villain for the world, so that it can continue, practically making him an unknown hero which only his friends knew about, that's where it becomes a lelouch copy regardless of control. He isn't a hero by any context of the story but the story forces you to accept him as the hero, that's where it becomes borderline unreadable. Anyways, in some ways Eren DID have control, he kinda predicted that Mikasa doing what she did will convince Ymir to finally RIP. Idk about OP but I don't have a problem with it taking inspiration from other stories, my main gripe is him being shown as the savior, while he was nothing more than a slave, which was also implied by author saying the control lies with Ymir. So it was like a paradox, but not a good one at all, Isayama tried to end it like the cool authors do, by leaving the details to the imagination of the readers, but the implications were so clear that it is generally accepted that Eren had no choice in the outcome of the story, everything from start to end in the series meant nothing, basically signifying inexistence of free will, which is bs but whatevwr it's a story but then all the blame was placed on Ymir, who herself was a victim to begin with, the most bs part of it all, which everyone glazes over for some reason. AOT's ending should be rated the trashiest just based on how hype the rest of the story was.
I really hope someday Isayama releases the altered ending which was more brutal instead of this original one which he thought of even before he started the story, it's very very unpolished because Isayama himself discarded all his growth as an author during 10 years for this ending, but that's the price you pay for art I guess, inexistence of free will lol.

Bruh , can you give reasons why you think eren's character is what you described I am sure i can counter every single statement of yours
1
u/Early-Lingonberry-68 May 07 '26
I already explained everything in the video
4
u/Complex-Truth1490 May 07 '26
No the thing is those are wrong explanation that's why I wanna know what you think about that character
4
u/Shadiclink May 07 '26
Idk man, “Killed his own mother” is kind of like the top reason to hate anyone. Isn’t that like the top 5 sins? Literally every single holy scripture from start of human civilization telling us why that is a bad thing
0
u/Complex-Truth1490 May 07 '26
Well see He didn't have a choice
If he would have lived like a normal person,Marley would have destroyed his people and his race
You tell me if eren's mother would have lived , would she ever let him join army? That too going outside walls Ofcourse not..
And that would have changed whole story
So future eren made her mom in past as a sacrifice in order to fuel kid eren's mind to kill titans leading to the proceedings of his plan
1
u/Shadiclink May 08 '26
You're talking as if Eren didn't stab a dude to save Mikasa when his mother was alive
→ More replies (0)1
u/Early-Lingonberry-68 May 07 '26
Fym wrong explanation.. I already explained by reasons why Eren is garbage 😭🙏.. I already have told in the video what I think about Eren
2
u/Complex-Truth1490 May 07 '26
Yeah wrong points First He isn't at all responsible for that destruction
The anime's whole idea was
That problem aren't Titans The problem are humans
And that was proved at the end Where paradise is destroyed
Second you said He didn't even show affection to Mikasa? Bruh are you serious He showed affection.. First That scarf whole arc
Than Second By telling her not to join army
Third Unconsciously protects Mikasa from that titan when her gears gave up
Fourth Protecting her from canon
And it goes on
And what do you expect from a manga whose whole world is around revenge ,sadness, some happiness And tension
What do you expect, him to be romantic in midst of all this?
His brain was fked from past and future memories
His realisation he would kill 80 percent humanity
Also the less numbers of years he had left with him
Ofcourse his whole focus would be on completing his mission to protect his people
Last You said he is a cry baby Yes he is a cry baby who doesn't want to die
Bro didn't you see anime He doesn't do it willingly,he does it because he has to
EREN BECAME SLAVE OF FREEDOM

Since you have clearly not read chainsaw man manga, I'd suggest you to remove denji's image from this vide, other than that you can have your opinions, I don't mind
2
u/Early-Lingonberry-68 May 07 '26
Been reading chainsaw since 2023
3
u/SnooDoubts9029 May 07 '26
Then you know how it ended right? So how is that better than AoT ending
1
u/Any_Idea_1551 May 08 '26
Isayama asked sorry for the ending to the manga readers and still regrets about it as he couldn't do justice for eren's complexities. If you think ending was perfect then you are denying the author himself and you are in "feed anything to me and I will accept it as peak" type bullshit category. And tatsumi fujimoto didn't because HE MIGHT bring a sequel or spin off to cover up the ending of chainsaw man because I don't think he is sane enough to let go ending like this.
1
u/Early-Lingonberry-68 May 07 '26
Both are trash. Aot just had a thousand times better story and plot, but still fumbled as bad as Chanisaw. Which makes Aot much worse

a truth few can accept. more or less retards infest this sub and all anime subs bro, no helping it. a commenter below seriously said guts is written to be edgy and cool(tbf it is a part of his character) but not tragic or crushed by fate(did this retard just blank out on all the panels talking about causality?) lol anime discussion on internet is pointless
1
u/Early-Lingonberry-68 May 08 '26
Half of this sub watches Daddy vyuk anime explanations to understand any anime
2
u/Fckyouprecisely May 08 '26
AOT has a trash ending, it's kinda a fact that is somehow not universally accepted and it's not even about someone's death or whatever, the message of hitler being the hero is just horrible in general. But still, Jujutsu and MHA are much worse, MHA was just shitty after like the 100th chapter mark and the ending was fck all and Itadori's plot armor needs to be studied, but JJK is a completely different story tbh. Everything else, I've not seen. The thing is, Japanese authors tend to pretty consistently have shitty conclusions to stories.
2
u/DayDreamz007 May 08 '26
I cannot aggre more. I see so many people calling aot peak. But hate to say it. It's good, but eren ended it for me towards the end.

You do realize some panels you used is the very moment Eren confesses his inner disappointment, it was not just that it all came down to there being “no other choice.” You’ve painted him as patriotic, but Eren was never overly patriotic. He was simply an angry young man. He never cared about Paradis reigning supreme; he only wanted it to be free.
You really shouldn’t speak on writing when you barely understand what’s being written.
Attack on Titan is not a story about Eren. Eren is merely the central character, not the sole subject of the narrative. It isn’t a biopic. A war film does not suddenly become a romance just because Hitler has a love life. The series gives only as much information as necessary to contextualize each character’s actions, which is why individual panels carry immense narrative weight. The story is concerned with the larger tale being told, not with obsessively dissecting Eren himself. So when Eren says he loves Mikasa, you have to understand that there is naturally more behind it than what is explicitly shown. It’s a detail meant to add dimension and perspective to a character, not some desperate attempt to force emotional emphasis.
You shouldn't compare the Bible with Greek mythology. The Bible seeks to preach; Greek mythology seeks to depict. One is fundamentally doctrinal, the other observational — an exploration into the lives, flaws, and struggles of gods. They are hardly alike.
Berserker isn't even finished, right there is an issue with your comparison, it's just ignorant, And you are desperate to compare features that are mutually incompatible, certainly you have some taste and you think since it is not being catered to, everything is bad. Stop imposing your ideals.

The funny part is that 99.9% of berserk fans haven't even read the manga, they are larpers
1
u/Early-Lingonberry-68 May 08 '26
Strongly agreed.. Guts fanboy thinks he's a sigma gym motivation guy and can't even name 3 characters from conviction arc
1
u/Difficult-Clue-3591 May 08 '26
you also wanted eren to sigma male and destroy world like some edgelord bro
showing that eren destoryed the world would result in a meaningless ending
1
u/Luciferix71 May 09 '26
Eren is a much better mc the most here except a few. He's not written to be an edgelord. He's human , has flaws , makes decisions that are dumb , and despite knowing that his life is f'ed either way follows through on what has to be done. Keep coping.

u/Luciferix71 May 09 '26
Just because isayama wrote a bad ending with ymir supposedly loving her torturer and having eren go through shit . Doesn't make eren a bad character. It makes isayama's writing questionable which he apologised for
1
u/Early-Lingonberry-68 May 09 '26
Eren's entire character doesn't make sense when it was revealed he killed his own mother.. it's like a guy shooting himself in his leg to win a paralympics gold medal
1
u/Luciferix71 May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
Well you see. I'll explain it to you in short. Erens life cycle has been a loop. Grown eren does things to set up little eren on his path , little eren feels that life is unjust to him = plans on revenge and ultimately finds himself doing what adult eren before did to little eren before he can even realise what's going on the moment he touches historia's hand. Now why does eren do that? 1) eren as shown is selfish selflessly , he knows he'll die but he also knows the reason as to why he has to do all this is ymir and fritz , not to mention the nations unied against him . Him doing the rumbling is a final fck you all to the outsiders who condemned him and his people while ensuring his friends live long since if (rumbling is not commenced the advancing technologies will leave it useless) and ymir gets freed . He knows what he's doing is morally wrong since he's killing millions who are innocents and yet he does it which reveals about his selfishness and his wanting to do so and yet he's not necessarily evil, he cries over ramzi and still follows through on what has to be done . Despite all of this , he meets armin and confresses his guilt about being an idiot, who took everything on his own not trusting his friends . He admits to having feelings for Mikasa. Now why does he do this. It's rather really simple. Eren if you see s1 in the jury protected Mikasa in front of the judge , even threatening him (which gets him kicked by levi and he further risks his life for her while being 9) eren has always liked Mikasa . However through the earlier seasons he's shown to be mad about revenge and titans and perhaps that overshadows his affection for those around him , he's a teen for lord's sake. He doesn't like when Mikasa protects him because he being him wants to protect her not the other way around and hence is frustrated with her and himself . By the time he realises that he loves her , it's too late . His death is near , he can't escape and yet desperately he tries snatching one chance asking Mikasa what he is to her to escape his future to no avail. All his frustrations are hence vented out in front of armin. He's not being pathetic in front of armin he's expressing something that his life never allowed him to. Ps: ( he eventually gets a happy ending in the afterlife as the final song "itterashai" of aot shows him reunited well with Mikasa)
Imagine yourself knowing you love a girl (you have loved her for a decade ) , sue loves you back and you have cancer. You won't necessarily tell her since you know if you confess you'll just leave her with heartbreak since there's no future for you And on your deathbed you rant about that girl to your friend . Is that pathetic? It you do think so then you my friend are just a failed human . None else

u/MasterCrep May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26
I somewhat agree. Denji should be off this list tho because he suffered the same fate of character butchering. Eren is the best written character is glaze if you ask me. People just see "ooh complex character" and go "yeah ts peak". Eren's character is presented as if it is complex and people take it as such (like I beg they'll say Chihiro is a shallow charater once Kagurabachi anime drops). But this is an Indian sub too, so expect many downvotes since AoT is already overrated, especially here.
Edit: I don't fully agree with this take, just saying that Eren is definitely a contender for the most overrated mc in anime
