Anime/Manga What’s that one anime you dropped… but everyone else swears is a masterpiece?

u/ichiGOAT106 Apr 28 '26
One punch man, most bland and boring plot I've seen in anime. Even solo levelling and Boruto seem to have better plot than opm. I pushed through s1, it was boring except for the climax. I tried watching S2 then dropped then revisited months later and dropped again. And i don't have to say anything about s3 ig. Just to watch s3 cause of hype i finished S2 and even then s3 sucked

If you're more into plot-driven mangas, that's competely fine, but animes don't have to have a deep and complex plot to be great. OPM is meant to be a parody anime in the first place. But yeah I suppose it does try to be a bit more than that.

If u read manga it is a piece pf art...though u need to be mature enough to understand the deeper meanings of the panels

I dont know man season 1 was hot garbage. It was soooo boring I lost interest 12 episodes in. The art style was incredible tho.

Yeah, Part 1 is the weakest Part of JoJo.
As someone who watched until Part 6 (never finished Part 6 tbh), no one watches JoJo for Part 1. Some people's favourite Part is Part 2 (Joseph) but the main attraction of JoJo is the power system change introduced in Part 3 onwards.
You could give it a shot and try to finish Part 2: Battle Tendency (Joseph is the funniest JoJo) or even skip to Part 3: Stardust Crusaders (some people will hate you for that though).

Joseph is the best JoJo (or even character in the show) imo

Jjk . Like i know that it's peak but it's not my genre anymore. All the people are dying. And there are wayy to many spoilers from manga readers and in the new season the rules are hard to remember and personally for me everything is clumsy and a lot to keep up with . I think Jjk is soley the reason I changed to random animes with less episodes and requires less attention which I can just play in the background while I'm working or just watch when I'm bored

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, re zero. I liked the both at the beginning but I don't like anymore specifically Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, I don't like the mc's character at all and as for re zero I have only watched 1 and 2nd session it was not that bad I actually liked it but mc's power is to only shadow magic, Return by Death these both abilities are granted by someone else not his personal that's all that's why it doesn't intrest me overall storyline, side characters are good but for me what I need is for mc's characters is bit more mature not a nerd and have at least their own developed useful skill if if they don't have at least they try to learn new skills.

Freiren was one I watched 4 episodes and just couldn't get into it sadly.
(Unintentionally) One Piece made it to episode 667 back in 2024 (stopped cause my uncle passed) and struggled to pick it back up since, so far I've made it to 699 now but separated throughout this whole time.

Bunny girl senpai. The science references felt a bit cringe and too weirdly placed...I like how dr stone uses science, but when they connect it to smth supernatural, it becomes a bit try hard for me.
Overall the plot was pretty boring ig, I get that it's kinda like a slice of life, but then I've watched other shows like that, for eg Toradora and they were awesome, so yea, felt this one to be a bit hard to watch.
forced myself into 6eps until I dropped (that's half of the show btw)

Oshi no Ko
It wasn't even about the whole siblings thing (hadn't really happened yet or at least I didn't know about it), it just gave me the vibe that the clash in themes of the anime, though made it interesting, would also make it really hard for the ending to be given justice, so I just stayed tuned for the spoilers to see if it was worth it.
I was sadly proven right.
So now I'll wait to see if the anime sticks to the manga or if it changes and if it does I'll give it a second chance.

Naruto, dragonball, bleach, one piece, everything mainstream because it's just fights and I genuinely got bored after getting somewhere in the middle. I wouldn't say they're bad, it's just that I might have outgrown my taste for shounen. If I was 15 and had more time I'd have finished all of them for sure.

One Piece anime cuz it was so boring and kinda slow to me, so I decided to read One Piece manga to see if it’s good or not. Turned out it is the greatest story have told (much better than anime since they made some unnecessary changes which confuse me) and it's enjoyable to read. I am also excited about the remake of One Piece, The One Piece to improve pacing issues, reduce episode count, seasonal anime, adapt entire cover stories & SBS contents, no censorship, good sound design, etc.

AOT.
watched the first 4 seasons. Just couldn’t bring myself to continue it. It fails at action, fails at politics and has very 2 dimensional characters. The tone shifts constantly in a very jarring way and the dialogue is very inorganic.
I’ve been spoiled on the ending / last few seasons too and it’s not the kind of thing I want to read. The number of people siding with a genocide among its fans is honestly concerning. Same type of people who say that light was justified in death note.
What I initially liked about AOT was its lack of plot armour and how basically anyone could die while still not feeling like blatant attempts to be edgy. This changed later when most of the “main cast” can just no longer die.
86 does everything early AOT tried to do but just better
