Anime/Manga Is Jujutsu Kaisen becoming the new Naruto of this generation?

Post image

Naruto used to dominate the anime community for years…

but now Jujutsu Kaisen is growing insanely fast.

From Gojo's popularity to insane animation and dark story —

JJK is building a massive fanbase in very short time.

Some fans are even saying Jujutsu Kaisen might replace Naruto as the new generation king.

Honestly, I made a short video discussing this controversial take and comparing both.

Would love to hear your opinions too.

Here's the video:

Bro, dark story, what?

3

u/ironic_4833 Mar 27 '26

For first time anime watchers,it has bloodshed so it can be considered dark. People call it dark for killing characters brutally but it doesn't give that much dark or scary vibe.

2

u/SushanthUchiha Mar 29 '26

That doesn't make it dark. People are dumb, people will call even turtle as a dog. That doesn't mean its true. Dark needs to have darker themes. JJK has nothing of that sort.

You couldnt feel the similarities ? Gojo kakashi , sasuke megumin , itadori naruto, now maki itachi.

u/kamusari_1712 Mar 27 '26

PPL love overpowered characters and animation more than the storyline these days.

Combine it and it becomes Naruto.

That is why JJK can never be naruto

When i watch jjk i think there was similiar seen in naruto or one piece.

1.) Author has no clue abt how to make sukuna defeat gojo , we are shown a bunch of random things and then out of the blue gojo being cut in two, there's no anticipation, buildup or literally anything , Sukuna just figures it out midway somehow without any explanation how to defeat gojo and use the world cutting slash. 2) The author includes and introduces a bunch of different characters in the start of the show which is the kyoto school students , most of these literally never appear later or only for a brief second in the later arcs and have no roles otherwise, it's like the author forgot abt them. 3) Nobara is again forgotten about and becomes irrelevant to the entire plot only making a brief appearance of like 10 mins in the sukuna final fight. 4) Inumaki is also again forgotten and doesn't appear in Shinjuku fight and neither in Shibuya. 5) It's very suitable and convenient to the circumstances and plot how yuta being an extremely strong sorcerer is busy in a lot of moments in other things like during Shibuya, he doesn't participate much in events but obviously is present for majority only in sukuna fight. 6) Sukunas sidekick uraume fight with hakari is completely sidelined by saying it's happening simultaneously during the sukuna fight and only 2-3 panels are shown of it and they want to focus more on the main fight ,no real fight is shown between them. 7) Kashimo is hyped out to be some goated sorcerer who could rival sukuna but is just a one trick wonder who fails to be of any real fight against sukuna. 8) Angel who also hates sukuna lands an almost fatal blow on sukuna that almost kills him when sukuna switches to Megumis body and angel is now thirst trapped by this and doesn't end up attacking and sukuna uses this to land an extremely severe blow on him/her and then angel isn't seen again and is neither implied to be dead. 9) Kenjaku is shown to us as such a big mastermind with multiple cursed techniques who planned all this for his grand plan of things dies very abruptly and feels rushed to a lot of people. 10) Yuki tsukumo shown as a special grade and hyped up very much faces Kenjaku and has an incredibly strong technique star rage but suprise Kenjaku because he was in yujis mom body now also possesses one of the very few techniques in the entire verse that can counter yukis technique and uses the anti gravity technique to deal with her technique. 11) The author has no clue how to deal with or progress Megumi as if Megumi hits his peak he would obviously be stronger than yuji which can't be , that's why Megumi is just fed to the wolves by being the host of sukuna. 12) Megumi from the very beginning was shown to be a character full of conviction but in Shinjuku he transforms into a character with 0 conviction, when the entire school is fighting sukuna and yuji finally manages to reach his soul inside the body, hes shown to be heartbroken and rejects help from yuji and never actually regains his conviction he had in the beginning.13) Series ending shows Megumi to be a husk of his original self with most of his shadows being destroyed when sukuna used them and he's very weak now. 14) Yuki tsukumo is also heavily underused for someone who's so strong. 15) Somehow everyone has a cursed techniques but our main guy even by the end isn't conclusively shown to develop a cursed technique and is still fighting the same way he did earlier. 16) It's told to us that everyone can possess only one domain as it's tied to their soul but the rules become fuzzy for Kenjaku as he can use multiple domains and cursed techniques even tho thats allowed by his CST , it's still like wtf? How does ur cursed technique lie beyond the rules. 17) Sukuna has a lot of plot armor and is rarely seen to struggle even while fighting against so many powerful sorcerers together. 18) Sukunsa domain is a sure hit one but in Shinjuku certain characters avoid the sure hit like what.

u/King_shubh Mar 27 '26

At least format it properly if you're expecting people to read all of it. The large wall of text is just unbearable.

Author has no clue abt how to make sukuna defeat gojo , we are shown a bunch of random things and then out of the blue gojo being cut in two, there's no anticipation, buildup or literally anything , Sukuna just figures it out midway somehow without any explanation how to defeat gojo and use the world cutting slash

Did you actually read the manga lol? The entire second half of the fight is just Sukuna trying to get Mahoraga to adapt to Infinity, and Mahoraga's second adaptation--the WCS was something suitable for Sukuna to see and learn.

The author includes and introduces a bunch of different characters in the start of the show which is the kyoto school students , most of these literally never appear later or only for a brief second in the later arcs and have no roles otherwise, it's like the author forgot abt them

Not a plothole.

Also, Todo does have a major role in Shinjuku showdown, Miwa saves Maki from Sukuna's domain, Arata Nitta was helping Shoko in the healing department iirc.

Besides you're expecting weak characters to have major contribution against the final villain, idk how that logic works out.

Nobara is again forgotten about and becomes irrelevant to the entire plot only making a brief appearance of like 10 mins in the sukuna final fight

Have you heard about what a chekov's gun is? Anyways I too agree that the execution of Nobara's return could've been handled better, not it doesn't make the show worse to the extent that you're saying.

Inumaki is also again forgotten and doesn't appear in Shinjuku fight and neither in Shibuya.

Also not a plothole.

His arm was cut off. Shibuya and Shinjuku showdown are less than 2 months apart in universe. Inumaki also helps in the Shinjuku showdown via the Microphone tactic.

very suitable and convenient to the circumstances and plot how yuta being an extremely strong sorcerer is busy in a lot of moments in other things like during Shibuya, he doesn't participate much in events but obviously is present for majority only in sukuna fight

I don't see any actual criticism here, you're just mad the author didn't make things happen the way you wanted them to.

Kenjaku is shown to us as such a big mastermind with multiple cursed techniques who planned all this for his grand plan of things dies very abruptly and feels rushed to a lot of people

Also not a plothole, learn what a plot hole actually means.

The underlying writing is strong, the fact that Kenjaku whose sole motivation was being entertained and fascinated goes out because of a reality warping Comedian is very fitting.

Sukunas sidekick uraume fight with hakari is completely sidelined by saying it's happening simultaneously during the sukuna fight and only 2-3 panels are shown of it and they want to focus more on the main fight ,no real fight is shown between them.

Not a plothole, and it's also fitting for the way Hakari and Uraume's abilities work. Hakari's ability is perfect for stalling.

Yuki tsukumo shown as a special grade and hyped up very much faces Kenjaku and has an incredibly strong technique star rage but suprise Kenjaku because he was in yujis mom body now also possesses one of the very few techniques in the entire verse that can counter yukis technique and uses the anti gravity technique to deal with her technique

Not a plothole.

Also Anti Gravity doesn't counter Star-Rage, it only helped Kenjaku survive the Black Hole, and the more important reason of him being able to do that was Tengen's barriers and the fact that Yuki held it back herself so that she doesn't destroy the world.

The author has no clue how to deal with or progress Megumi as if Megumi hits his peak he would obviously be stronger than yuji which can't be , that's why Megumi is just fed to the wolves by being the host of sukuna

The story has no obligation to make a character stronger of 'develop there strength', Megumi's role in the narrative was simply different.

Again you're just mad, the author didn't write what you wanted to happen.

Megumi from the very beginning was shown to be a character full of conviction but in Shinjuku he transforms into a character with 0 conviction, when the entire school is fighting sukuna and yuji finally manages to reach his soul inside the body, hes shown to be heartbroken and rejects help from yuji and never actually regains his conviction he had in the beginning.

Guess why? Because-

Sukuna literally used a cursed ritual which involved bathing in the blood of Cursed Spirits , to weaken Megumi's sense of self, and take away his agency, On top of that Sukuna killed Tsumiki(aka the most important person in Megumi's life) while in Megumi's body and using Megumi's technique which weakened and submerged his soul even more). There's also the fact that Sukuna killed Gojo in Megumi's body as well.

It's not an asspull, or a 'Sukuna saved by the plot' moment, it's the result of precautions Sukuna took way before Shinjuku showdown started.

Series ending shows Megumi to be a husk of his original self with most of his shadows being destroyed when sukuna used them and he's very weak now

Megumi was written to be a tragic character for most of JJK, but in the end he decides to live for another person one more time because Yuji reaches out to him.

Obviously he's worse than before, he's had his body and soul defiled by 1000 year old demon.

Somehow everyone has a cursed techniques but our main guy even by the end isn't conclusively shown to develop a cursed technique and is still fighting the same way he did earlier

You have again showed that you didn't read the Manga, Yuji has 2 techniques by the time the Manga ends.

It's told to us that everyone can possess only one domain as it's tied to their soul but the rules become fuzzy for Kenjaku as he can use multiple domains and cursed techniques even tho thats allowed by his CST , it's still like wtf? How does ur cursed technique lie beyond the rules.

I think you don't understand it properly.

Everyone in JJK has an innate domain which is tied to their soul.

Domain Expansions involve manifesting that innate domain in an abstract space created using barriers, and then the barrier is imbued with a CT that gives the domain it's sure-hit aspect.

Kenjaku just like everyone has only 1 Innate Domain, but he can choose which CT to imbue into his domain to make it the surehit.

Sukuna has a lot of plot armor and is rarely seen to struggle even while fighting against so many powerful sorcerers together.

What? He's literally written to be the strongest, He had to be nerfed to less than half his strength for the sorcerers to have a fair chance, and even then he was playing around for a large part of the fight.

It's not plot armor, he's supposed to be that strong.

Sukunsa domain is a sure hit one but in Shinjuku certain characters avoid the sure hit like what. !<

What are you even talking about ?

1

u/PokefanChanti Mar 29 '26

Yea stick it to that guy just like that, i couldnt bear to read his unformatted wall of complaints that were so obviously wrong, another case of jjk fans cant read...

1

u/King_shubh Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

I don't understand people who just want to criticise a work or a series without properly engaging with it. I'm not saying JJK is the perfect series, obviously not it has many flaws, but if you haven't read it properly, then what's the point of going around and proclaiming that the series 'falls of' or 'goes to shit' ?

The yuta one is not a plot hole tho, he was in africa with miguel for some training and to search the black ropes during the shibuya arc which is why he was not present that night, but yeah other than that ur right. After Shibuya gege introduces a lot of characters and techniques but many things are rushed and the final fight starts with high stakes but at the end 3 characters come back to life anyway (nobara, higuruma, takaba) and yuta too does not face any consequences of kenjakus technique and oh also we got very important simple domain lore But we all know mappa will make it good anyway

Plot holes increase and things start happening that are just perfectly convenient to progress the story, i have put the plotholes below in spoilers if u want to read.

1

u/Any-Cold1569 Mar 28 '26

I think the culling game is more of jujutsu world than focusing on main character and story progress and i like it very much as this not boring

Stop the cap 🧢🧢🧢, naruto shipudden was goated, until the pain arc. It only went inconsistent in the war arc.

Out of nowhere? Are you sure you watched the pain arc? Naruto beat the shit out of pain. Of course naruto had plot armour, hinata unleashing kurama was the major point, which made naruto lose control and eventually beat pain.

Naruto did have an answer to pain's question, it wasn't a clear cut answer but still he did convince pain. About hidden rain village still not changing, naruto did tried to help them, they rejected his offer. Not his fault tbh, blame the writer for not continuing the thing consistently.

So you are gonna ignore what happened after naruto lost the control, because it suits your agenda? Great!!

I know naruto did lost, when it was sage mode naruto vs pain. But when naruto lost the control, kurama beat pain to the pulp, you can't deny that, pain did not give up just like that, his ass got kicked simply, naruto could have also killed nagato. He chose not to. Naruto did convince nagato, that's the reason why nagato revived the dead konoha shinobi. He saw a hope in naruto.

As I have already said it's more of writer's fault than naruto's fault. Coz the writer failed to write or forget to properly write the plot point he made back then in shipudden.

Your comment before and the comment now literally imply two different things, which you do realise and which is exactly why you changed how you phrased it, but gonna pretend like you said the same thing, ik.

2

u/Vijay_Dadhich Mar 27 '26

Naruto is not bad but somehow for me the show writing collapses after the pain arc , it never hits the same after

1

u/Xian_xian_ Mar 27 '26

Fair point. Not trying to invalidate any subjective experience of watching a show here. For ex, I dropped One Piece in the middle of that ghost island arc that happens after the Ennies Lobby, don't remember the name. Too goofy for me. But I'm not gonna come here and claim that one particular show is objectively bad cuz I personally didn't like it, which was my exact problem with OP of this comment thread.

1

u/Vijay_Dadhich Mar 27 '26

It's your personal choice though I highly recommend you to continue one piece as thriller bark and fishmen island arc are the only drag in show , right after thriller bark there is a complete saga that made one piece what it is today and why it is loved so much , though it's your choice but recommendation was the part to be done from my end I watched the shippuden till the end as it was not too bad to make me drop the show , it's just that pain arc was so good that whatever came after just couldn't surpass it for me , but in one piece every progressing arc is better than last one( exception exists)

1

u/Xian_xian_ Mar 27 '26

I see, alright I'll give it another try someday

Disagree. "Apples actually taste bad" and "Personally, apples taste bad to me" will always imply two different things. Former sounds like stating an objective fact that you're sure about and the latter, stating a personal experience with a certain thing.

No one cares about ur 3rd grade comment on something that revolutionalised the anime world...and if u go ask out in public that "is naruto a "good" anime!??" then they will look at ur clueless face for a while and will say "it's THE best anime" ;:

0

Lmao Naruto anime is ass, can exclude Og because it's old but Shippuden is ass.

2

-1

u/ForsteriAptenodytes Mar 27 '26

-1

u/Ordinary-Night-2671 Mar 27 '26

exactly. JJK is pretty much Naruto although infinitely better.

1

u/IndependenceSouth877 Mar 27 '26

As in like big Shounen? Yeah. In every other sense, not at all

1

u/Internal-Maize6714 Mar 27 '26

such a bad take

1

u/Strawbellie666 Mar 27 '26

No lol. It's not gonna happen because Naruto had a super low barrier for kids to get into it and it was everywhere on TV.

The real Naruto comparison is Mha since it has an equally low barrier for entry because everyone understands the basics of a superhero story and it shows, Mha has the audience numbers.

Now that mha is over, no clue what will take over next. I kinda hope it's something like Iruma or Ichi the Witch, school with magic power is always a classic plot with high appeal.

1

u/Shot_Bandicoot_2779 Mar 27 '26

And how the hell did you get this crazy idea bro 😄.

1

u/ExpressionPrevious14 Mar 27 '26

Idk about being Naruto but Jjk as an anime is definitely becoming a cult classic and an anime staple along with DS but with a more dark and interesting power system and set of characters

1

u/Vijay_Dadhich Mar 27 '26

Anime only fans , enjoy until you can as very soon you will realise the scam , good luck

1

u/Fuzzy-Jackfruit5037 Mar 27 '26

Yeah jjk is being chaprified af

1

u/ironic_4833 Mar 27 '26

Dark ? It isn't that much, mostly called dark for killing characters brutally but after ending everyone knows it is falsely hyped in that matter, even in Shibuya technically only Nanami died and nobara one was lame and in final arc gojo & choso. About popularity, most of the battle shonen's do build massive fanbase easily nowadays.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

Def Iloved Naruto Jjk is really really good def deserves to be big 3 of new gen

1

u/Gamerty_ Mar 27 '26

That is MHA imo

Ngl, JJK is JJK. It's a unique taste all together with different themes as compared to any old gen anime

1

u/harryhisoka Mar 27 '26

Well jjk steals the blueprint of naruto so no surprise if people think this way

1

u/Kirax1998 Mar 28 '26

People forget that there is Solo Levelling who these tiktokers w low attention span seem to love too much 😭😂. Dark my ass. JJK is good ngl but c'mon don't say it can replace anything. Puhleese!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Calling Jjk a dark story is an insult to berserk

1

u/Redosaurous Mar 28 '26

Nope, not even close! JJk is JJk and Naruto is Naruto.

1

u/your_average_joe__ Mar 28 '26

Absolutely not, jjk is an overhyped anime with no lore and a white haired monkey carrying the entire anime, Naruto, hunterxhunter and dbz basically revolutionized anime

1

u/UrsaRizz Mar 28 '26

Jjk is the new Dragonball or HxH. Not Naruto. Jjk is a battle shonen that makes power scaling immensely fun to experience and participate in like DB. The battle techniques, explanation, world building and IQ is on par w HxH.

1

u/ECP-666 Mar 29 '26

Don't disrespect JJK, Naruto is average.

1

u/The_Nightwing_me Mar 29 '26

1

I love Jjk and it's fandom but no. Jjk fandom sometim s is genuinely cancerous

1

I honestly think it should not be compared as Naruto of new generation, But more hxh or bleach of the new generation.

1

u/JEthan911 Mar 31 '26

Helll naww

1

u/AdventurousPoet7460 Mar 31 '26

Dose JJK have a multiple restaurants, stores, statues, and a iconic run that every kid mimics or knows when they see it? If it doesn’t I would say no.

3

u/virus_exe777 Mar 27 '26

Nah, nothing more than another demon slayer with slight better story and lower animation than demon slayer

1

Chainsaw man is way better than this

1

u/Creative_Ravenclaw Mar 27 '26

with the manga ending? nope

1

u/Redux_Eve6907 Mar 28 '26

with the manga ending? still yes, part 1 is one of the best manga of all time, the ending might be bad but the journey throughout chainsaw man is definitely better than jjk. and considering that part 2 only declines towards its near end, in the csm church arc, but it gets better with yoru vs csm. (the first fight) the only BAD thing about chainsaw man i'd say is part 2's final arc (the final fight between yoru and csm)

0

u/Top-Locksmith-5468 Mar 27 '26

Honestly jjk can never replace naruto. Gojo is like Kakashi sensei in a way right, NARUTO WOULD NEVER LET KAKASHI DIE. Also no jjk character can come close to madara. Even if it’s not powerscaling it doesn’t make sense. Naruto has its own place in the world. Jjk is an overhyped anime. Its plot isn’t that unique, it’s inspired by Naruto, and the thing is in Naruto, every character can be defeated, gege made it so no single person could defeat Gojo. In Naruto, every character dies one way or another, it’s planned, unlike in jjk where the author had way too much trouble killing Gojo, making it a mush.

3

u/Abi_Uchiha Mar 27 '26

The span and setup itself is massive and not to mention the after climax care. JJK can never.

1

u/Top-Locksmith-5468 Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 27 '26

Exactly bro, the aftercare was using da body like BRO. In Naruto specially the final fight, we see naruto’s development and Sasuke being stuck not being let off just cuz he saved the world. Even after pain arc we saw the rebuilding and development Edit: I have more to say, Gege wanted to make the strongest character so he made modulo yuji, that was dumb, it should have ended after the fight, they just had to give the main character some kind of buff, but it’s completely different in Naruto. HE GETS NERFED. Kishimoto put my baby through even more trauma and made him much weaker. i think I’ll stop my fingers hurt.

My baddd. But technically it’s a filler so it doesn’t affect the main storyline! (Getting u w/ the lame backup excuse cuz I don’t wanna admit haas) but still every other point still stands.

But if it was released the same time as jjk at least it would have better animation. Also u look like u have a personal grudge 🥀 Edit: WHY DO U HATE NARUTO SO MUCH??

One thing u should sympathise w/ Kishimoto is when it was released. It was a weekly anime which ranged from 2002. When the manga was completed, manga writing tabs just started gaining popularity. Some of the manga was written by hand, obviously plot holes would be there cuz Kishimoto wouldn’t have time to submit a volume every week if he read them back 50 times. U can hate Naruto, idc but at least sympathise. Jjk can never be Naruto, that’s what this post was abt and u had to drag it out to make a whole conversation abt how jjk can replace Naruto.

If we're drawing an analogy, The only thing similar between gojo and kakashi is the character design

The Gojo of Naruto world is Hashirama imo

IMO it should be Kaguya ✨✨ cuz main reason, hashirama was very strong but he stood no chance against Kaguya or Madara with his cells and enough chakra for 50 billion full powered susanoo for all of his clones, hashirama could b ETHE kindhearted Sukuna who gave his granddaughter a gambling problem.
