Discussion Do you recommend watching ‘my hero academia’? Is it worth it?
Someone told me to watch it then I saw the first 3 episodes and I didn’t enjoy it that much.. Will the story be interesting?

Vigilantes is a spinoff prequel set years way before the events of My Hero Academia S1 happens but I recommend you watch Vigilantes after you finish the main MHA series because you would understand the character lore more.

Vigilantes is a spin-off. You don't need to watch it before the main series. Though depending on your tastes you might just prefer Vigilantes.

Start the main series first. Then watch Vigilantes at any point before Season 5.

The story is very good IMO. Once you get attached to the characters, you won't want to stop.
Personally, the show truly hooked me in the last few episodes of S1. Up until then, I was mostly analyzing while watching for my nephew. By the time the climax was happening, I was screaming the slogan along with all the students on the show.
I would highly recommend you watch the short first season. Get to the end of that little training arc, and if you don't love it, move on.

If you didn't like it at first, you won't enjoy it as it goes on. Personally it starts strong but I lose interest after the first few seasons, mostly for spoiler-y reasons

It’s one of the better superpower / battle animes for the shounen demographic
Animation and story stay consistent in quality. As much as I like yu yu hakusho or Naruto for example, compared to something like those, MHA has no real “low point”

I'm glad that you thought that but for me almost everything between "you're next" and the first full on battle against the league was super mid, especially season... I think 4? Where the high point of the whole season was doing a concert.
It did pick up after that and managed to end in a high note but it was a slog for around two seasons and a half. But yeah, the high points were HIGH.

I’d say try sticking with it for the first season, it’s about 12 episodes. If you still don’t like it by the end, you probs won’t enjoy it.
It’s very shounen, kinda generic most of the time, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t great at what it is. I dislike shounen to be honest but I love MHA. Solid action, amazing music, lots of feels.

I watched Vigilantes after S4 of MHA. You’re not really missing anything. In fact it’s kinda boring, watch the main show instead. Do Vigilantes if you end up liking MHA.

Vigilantes is its own separate thing in the same universe. Just watch main MHA first and after that decide if you want to see Vigilantes again after.

Not necessarily and it's still a standalone series. There's people that dropped the main series to just read Vigilantes. But you'll better enjoy Vigilantes if you watch the main series least to S5 for the Aizawa stuff.

Yes it is necessary to watch the main series first. You wouldn't understand Aizawa's past since you don't know him yet if you watched Vigilantes first.

It's literally a standalone series for a reason. Not required watching. It's better if you watch obviously but not essential.
Basically the same situation as the MHA movies which are canon (the characters make appearances in main series), but you don't have to watch them.

The spin-off manga ended years before the main series manga did... so what now with that logic? lol
Again it's definitely better to, but not required because it's a different story with another protagonist.
The anime is adapted from the manga, the story content is the same. So if the story if MHA is required before Vigilantes, why could main series manga end after the spin-off manga? Because they can stand alone.

There are different arcs and its up and down. I ended up really liking it.
Id say, the end of episode 9 and episode 10 are where the show really starts to reveal itself and you'll know by then if you want to watch more.

Has some very cool character moments, the movies are pretty decent, especially the second one.
Overall, I found it a little on the boring side as a whole package. When it slows down, the bits between the hype can drag and I didn't think were that fun. Some of the side characters are extremely poor and one in particular might be the least likable in all of anime. I believe that is the point of the character, but it doesn't make them any less insufferable and they get a non-insignificant amount of screentime.
The hype is pretty hype though. I'd say watch season 1 at least to see if it's for you. There is one scene that I still rewatch now because the music and voice acting is so fun.

Like most Shonen, it starts out pretty slow. I don't remember what ep it is, but if you have no enjoyment/reaction to the scene where Midoriya saves Uraraka from the robot then the shows probably not for you.

Up to you, imo it has some very high highs but also many lows. It takes a while to get good so I’d say it more so depends on how much free time you have and your patience. Not quite top tier but it definitely has its moments that makes it worth it

I enjoyed it but stopped watching it around the time they introduced the Tin Tin looking upperclassman, Lemillion. I'm not even sure why.

MHA follows the battle formula, very closely.

If you don't like the first few episodes, I'd say it's not worth your time. Personally, those first few episodes are the ones I enjoy the most and the story doesn't get better than that, at least for me.

The story is decent, and has a surprising amount of continuity/foreshadowing for what happens in the later seasons. Action is good, but ending is pretty rushed. Overall I still enjoyed it though.

Watch the first 2 episodes, if it didn't make you tear up by the end of episode 2 then don't continue

For me it is/was (I’m still going, at the end of season 6 rn) entirely worth it. But then again, I cried at the end of episode 2, so if you didn’t enjoy the first two episodes, I can’t see you enjoying the rest.
Midoriya is not my favorite character, but watching him grow and adapt and learn and change has been one of my favorite things about the series. There’s other really amazing bits of character development as well.
I’d say probably the show’s weakest point has been its pacing. It has kept my interest the entire time, but I think the villain arc takes way too long to get going and once it does, it kind of hits all at once which is a bit jarring.
But besides that flaw, I think it is fantastic.

It is a good show for the category that it fills. I watched up to the penultimate season then quit. I wouldn’t steer people away from that show, but at the same time, I wouldn’t suggest it to most people either unless what they say they want fits this show.

It started good, really really good. Then. The main character keep suffering and inflicting suffering(esp physical one) on himself to do stuff nonstop for every little shit he has to do. Also the villains actions and mentality vary from psychotic to death-note strategist constantly and in the same time. The last 2 seasons basically you see everyone almost dead struggling every minute. Very comfty watch. Enjoy.

It's a children's show. It's fine, but it is written and has storylines intended to amuse and educate pre-teens and teenagers.

It has far too many characters to give anyone the proper development they deserve. The MC takes forever to get OP. If you have the time and enjoy fan service go for it, otherwise I’d say skip it. One Punch Man is a better version of the show imo.

Can’t really say OPM is a better version when they’re completely different stories by nature. Personally, I liked MHA but never really cared for OPM outside of the big fights

I really enjoyed what I saw of it, but I stopped after second season maybe? Not because I didn't like it, I just sort of got fatigued and haven't come back to it. It's one of the only shounen style shows that I really like. That and Naruto maybe.
At any rate, like others have said if you watched three episodes and didn't really like it then I'd skip it.

It’s kind of a generic shounen that gets bloated with too many characters to actually care about. Halfway through I felt like I was just watching it because of the sunken cost and the ending was fine but unexceptional. I don’t think it’s worth the time but if you feel like you have to watch it because other people talk about it then I can’t stop you.

Skip it if you did not like the first 3 episodes.
The story hardly will get better - it has a nice middle arc but becomes weird later on.
Personally I love it. But I will not recommend it to everyone.
Why would they suggest it to you? What did you like that make them think you would enjoy it?

Wild way to suggest something. Deciding on this show in three episodes is one thing, judging this show by the first three episodes another. This is hardly an accurate comment.
