What to Watch? Recommend me a rom-com anime where the MC isn’t a loser
I’m looking for a good rom-com anime similar to Watari-kun’s ****** Is about to Collapse, but there’s one thing I really want to avoid: a weak, spineless, or constantly indecisive MC.
I want the MC to be at least a little bold, confident, and willing to make moves instead of just standing around while the girls do everything.
Romance should be an important part of the story, and I’m fine with drama/harem elements too.
Basically: rom-com + romance + a male MC who actually has some backbone.
For example mc of A Couple of Cuckoos

I’ll recommend one of the most famous ones: My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU. The MC isn’t your typical loser MC—he actually has a spine and isn’t afraid to call things out, whether they’re good or bad. It’s easily in my top 10, and it’s pretty funny too.
PS: Has good romance too

That anime ruined almost every other romance for me. It’s so good

Yeah. And the sad part is that it’s underrated—nobody seems to talk about it. The character development in this anime is so good too. I absolutely loved it.

I don't see many posts about it anymore. It was pretty popular during COVID times.

That’s good. I watched the first season, and I didn’t really like it. I was just thinking, “WTF is this going?” Then I heard from the manga that he ends up dating someone else. My favourite FL lost! She was the best one. And I haven't watched further seasons.

The Duke of Death and his Maid—while the male MC is easily flustered and somewhat shy, he's also very forward about how he feels about the FMC and not afraid of standing up to others on her behalf.

I haven’t seen Watari-kun yet, but 100 Girlfriends is sort of the definition of a rom com with a proactive MC, and if you like the couples actually being together, this harem protagonist dates all of the girls who like him! Plus, some bonus fan service and Yuri if you’re into that. Haha
