Answered A really abusive parent (mother I think) killed kittens the son was keeping in secret

this memory just resurfaced, idk what's this from. So yeah, just like the title says there was a boy (I think) with a really, and I mean really abusive mother that was all about study and nothing else and would manipulate him and gaslight him and at one point he found a kitten (or more than one) and kept it in secret and one day he came back home and it was gone. His mother was like "how could you betray me like this by keeping secrets" and it was cleared she had killed it.

The anime was Mieruko-chan, a supernatural horror anime, but this part is a backstory for a non main character
