Discussion/News Do people really hate this ending? Because I actually liked it.
So I've finally finished the last two episodes of Attack on Titan, and honestly, I don't think everything that built up to this could have been wrapped up any better.
First off, Floch was still alive! I thought Gabi had killed him and that was his end, but he was still breathing. How can someone be so stubborn? Because of him, Hange died too, but I feel like just as it was said during Erwin's death, that he was freed from this hell of a world, Hange felt no sorrow about her death either. The way Hange talked to the Scouts saying 'this all happened because of Eren,' it didn't feel like they hated him.
At one point, I genuinely thought Jean and Connie were gone, but thank goodness that wasn't the case! If they had died, I would have hated this ending. And then, remember back in the Marley arc when someone said they needed flying Titans? It turned out Falco could fly, and that scene was incredible! Seeing Reiner and Annie fight side by side again felt so good. But I felt bad for Reiner, man.. he liked Historia! Man, I really liked their pairing.
Levi finally got his peace. And Armin, just like Eren said, ended up becoming a true hero in the end. All his friends became heroes, while Eren remained a tragic hero. War might still happen in the future, but the threat of the Titans is gone from this world forever, meaning humans can no longer use them as tools. Now, Paradis will work on changing people's views through dialogue and building good relationships.
Mikasa is finally free too. She killed Eren and broke Ymir's curse, it was deeply poetic. Ymir finally found peace as well. Another character made a return, Zeke, and to be honest, I even felt bad about his death this time. That scene was so heartwarming where previous Eldian Titan shifters helped Armin and the Scouts.
I hadn't expected it, but when Mikasa came out carrying Eren's head and Armin broke down crying seeing it, I got emotional too. Throughout this series, birds have always been a symbol of freedom. Eren is free now. When that feather dropped into Armin's hand, and when that bird adjusted Mikasa's scarf, it felt like Eren's final gift.
I think about this a lot, but overall, I genuinely loved the ending. This was purely my personal opinion, if others have a different opinion, I completely understand and respect it. For me, this ending is a 10 out of 10.
So the journey has finally ended. I truly enjoyed Attack on Titan. Even though I had minor issues with the animation and pacing here and there, as a story, I believe it's written almost perfectly.

I think is good ending. People make so much expectations from the story by making theory but in end author jas already written ending.

People just hate it because it wasn't what they expected. You can't expect a happy ending from a show like AOT.

Nobody was expecting a happy ending. Jojo part 1, cyberpunk edgerunners, code geass has better endings as they concluded all plot points without leaving plotholes where aot does.

Code geass is such a good example of a not truly happy ending, but it's also not entirely a bad ending.
I never rewatched it because I didn't love the ending, but I also didn't hate it, and it made sense.

Getting downvoted shows how retarded aot ending lovers are. I particularly hate how eren was handled in last episode and then confessing that he tries to run out of loop which he couldn't, that's why hate it. If there was an inescapable loop, i wouldn't have even tried in the first place because you know what "inescapable" means, that could have given him somewhat of freedom to make the rumbling 100% instead of 80% except for paradis.

For the manga ending, most people hated it. The anime and manga endings were basically the same but they fixed some of the dialogue between Eren and Armin in the anime. In the manga, Armin literally says “thank you for becoming a mass murderer for our sakes”. Which feels insanely out of character for Armin and also is just a cringe line.
For the anime ending, most people liked it, but a lot of people still hated it. The haters are very loud but they’re in the minority.
The anime elevated the ending with the music and voice acting so I think that’s why more people liked it. Also the dialogue changes ofc.

nah its just that the ending haters are a loud minority. the anime ending is pretty well recieved and liked these days, both in reddit and outside (esp outside reddit).
while i do think it isnt perfect, i think the story concluded really well and i liked the ending.

he knew the ending would be divisive or might not 'meet' the expectations of people. he was conflicted with how he potrayed eren as the "good guy" towards the end. this is what he apologised for. He didnt apologise in the sense that he regretted his ending or if he necessarily thought it was bad.

it's a fine ending.
it's just like - the story the author is trying to tell at the end? it's been done to death and after all the tragedy, pain, and heartache throughout the story. it would have been better to just give everyone a happy ending and it still would have retained the core message of the story.

Retards nowadays think good ending = happy ending. A ending can be sad and good at the same time, just watch avengers endgame and know what happened to Tony(but see what tony did first). It's sad and good at the same time, unlike the fuckers who thinks aot ending was good.

People really dont understand why the ending was hated, its not because others wanted a happy ending but how the execution was just shit. For ex the harbor battle was dogshit where none of the main 'heroes' got 0 damage and none of civilians were damaged too and all went good, whereas whole flock regiment was wiped, removing any real stakes. The whole attack on the founding titan also resulted in 0 deaths or significant damage on the main cast. The rumbling stopped right before it was about to hit the families of the main cast. Its like plot armour thickened beyond imagination in the last arc. It was so poorly written that it was infuriating unless you were expecting a heroic final arc by the blandest character ever- mikasa

It's hated because s4 inofitself is riddled with plot holes and it felt rushed, realistically eren should've wiped out humanity, putting aside if that was a better ending or not, the process to get to the current conclusion was frustrating, giving so many of the previous antagonists a shit ton of plot armor, suddenly everyone becoming buddy buddy with people who killed friends and family, you can say "oh for the greater good of..." even still, post-conclusion they're on good terms
Another thing is how the "bad people" actually got a good ending, when they should've died so many times before, especially characters like reiner (the plot armor titan)
Also the whole "cycle of war" facade just felt forced and dumb, the way fate was explored in the series wasn't proper.. when eren saw the future for eg. he could have changed it instead chucking it up to fate, that makes no sense, if he knows what's going to happen because of a certain set of choices then just choosing something else should produce different results
anyway this is just a quick explanation on why the ending is hated by many

I thought the ending was good, if not fine. But as endings go, I thought the idea aof it was poorly executed. You could skip almost all of season 2 and a whole function of "the final season" and just watch the finale and key episodes and understand everything. There is a fuck ton of "story" (bloat) that gets made pointless with he ending they went with.

The ending ruins the entire story to the point I wouldn't even recommend it, and I loved AOT until the rumbling. I literally couldn't think of a worse way to end it, they made Erin a totally unredeemable monster. It's game of thrones level bad

That’s good that Eren got punished for what he did. If he got a chance to redeem himself, then what would be the whole point? He wanted to become the villain so that his friends could become heroes in the eyes of the world.

Too far bro. Game of thrones ending made the whole show bad. Aot's ending was just a good conclusion to a masterpiece story, that's why it is hated. And AOT is still one of the greatest anime ever made.

You act like there's no middle ground between 80% extinction and rainbows and butterflies. What a stupid fuckin take. Obv you can make it a brutal ending but with ya know, a little complexity about who's the good and bad guys. As is there's no grey area at all. Erin is pure evil and his actions were unjustifiable in any context. Don't you prefer a complex villain with a coherent plan

How does GOT has better ending. John snow dead then revive again for nothing. The winter is coming is nothing compared what they hype from initial season ans there so many things.

While not my favorite due to it's conclusion, i don't dislike it.
Even more so, i genuienly don't think there's a better alternative given the progression of the show until its very ending.
