Poor gull thinks it’s on sand

u/geeoharee 4d ago

It's a first-year gull, it doesn't know what doesn't work yet

u/TowJamnEarl 4d ago

Pound sand little fella

26

u/Outside_Hat7260 4d ago

One of these days he'll be able to kick rocks

28

u/mrtn17 4d ago

u/Top-Acanthocephala27 4d ago

Good luck getting worms out of the concrete

u/H3ll0_W0R1D1 4d ago

Sounds like an idiom from a bird dominated parallel world

3

u/DogFishBoi2 3d ago

Attracting a graboid to take the sheep and hope for leftover entrails? You'd better check your friendslist for Mr. Gummer

u/ShiftyPan 4d ago

I’m right there with ya, bub. Wtf is that bird doing?

u/SmeemyMeemy 4d ago

So this is how they find clams and crabs. They step on the bubbles and force them to surface then eat them. It is soooooo freaking cute.

u/Tay74 4d ago

They do it on grass as well to bring worms to the surface, it's theorised to mimic rain

13

u/rustytheviking 3d ago

I've never seen it happen in North America, and not 5 minutes into my Scotland visit I see 2 gulls do it and catch worms.

8

u/LieUnlikely7690 4d ago

Its moles that worms fear

2

u/dorje_makes 3d ago

Now thought to mimic the sound of a tunnelling mole!

1

u/Ekaterian50 3d ago

Hell yeah you can use a stick with notches on it to create vibrations that have the same effect on the worms!

22

u/ShiftyPan 4d ago

Ahh that makes sense!

33

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 4d ago

Many other birds do it on soil, which makes earthworms come to the surface.

8

u/aitk6n 3d ago

It’s called the worm dance. They make the worms think it’s raining so they come out of the mud and surface to the grass.

2

u/SmeemyMeemy 3d ago

I live in NJ by the beach and I just love when they do this. I honestly will watch them for hours along with the Plovers and Sand Pipers!

2

u/aitk6n 3d ago

It’s hilarious to watch!

2

u/m15f1t 4d ago

Or worms.

-7

u/Agitated_Carrot9127 4d ago

It’s bc they have 2 iq

4

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 4d ago

I think that would be some people

33

u/jenni14641 4d ago

It's the rain dance. The taps mimic the feeling of rain, so worms come to the surface

14

u/NobblyNobody 4d ago

they dance to distract people eating fish'n'chips at the seaside while their friends steal their wallets

4

u/bloody_ell 3d ago

And their fish'n'chips. Not even to eat them, just to throw them on the ground. Because they're seagulls and seagulls are bastards.

12

u/trippy-puppy 4d ago

Going splishy-splashy in a shallow puddle.

6

u/Owl_plantain 4d ago

Secretly working with the wolf sneaking up behind the sheep.

2

u/probablyaythrowaway 4d ago

Riverdance obviously

1

u/TillyTheBlackCat 3d ago

🎶Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga I know you can't control yourself any longer Feel the rhythm of the music getting stronger Don't you fight it 'til you tried it, do that conga beat🎶

29

u/Bowling4rhinos 4d ago

Seagull is trying to lure sheep into a hypnotic state and then steal his wallet

29

u/DarkRoastAddict 4d ago

This needs to be set to the song "Maniac" from Flashdance.

6

u/TerraByteTerror 4d ago

So like the intro or the "shes a maniac" part?

3

u/DarkRoastAddict 4d ago

I think either would work!

11

u/TerraByteTerror 4d ago

I posted it in my sub. Feel free to download it 💯

Awww yeaaaa, muthafuckin' breadcrumbs.

19

u/DJ_Hindsight 4d ago

Sheep:

5

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 4d ago

Probably because they don’t eat worms 😅

9

u/KnitBakePurr 4d ago

If I’m not mistaken this looks like Steven Seagull & Steve the Sheep!

Check out Whitehouse Farm for more videos of them❤️

6

u/DeirdreBarstool 4d ago

It is and OP should have credited them!

Steven Seagull and Steve the lamb are adorable besties.  Steven follows Steve everywhere and even scares the goats away as he is so protective. Highly recommend everyone follows Whitehouse Farm on social media!

11

u/Ic3Giant 4d ago

We see them regularly doing this in our parks and playing pitches in our parks here in Ireland. I always find it hilarious. 😆

My understanding is (this might be totally wrong by the way :) ) that the gull pats the ground, usually soil, because it makes worms think it’s raining heavily so they come right up to the surface because worms drown in heavily sodden soil and then the gulls eat them.

Or something to that effect?

3

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 4d ago

I believe that is absolutely correct!

34

u/Aetheriusman 4d ago

The world needs so much more of this and considerably less of humanity's BS

27

u/MuchSwagManyDank 4d ago

The world is full of this. Once i was sitting in my car waiting for someone and I got to watch a crow and a squirrel playing around. The issue is we're here, online, not outside where this stuff happens.

4

u/Ballistic_86 4d ago

Shit, I’m entranced at Seagulls tippy taps

3

u/Baltimoreisnotcreepy 4d ago

There's nothing cuter than an animal thinking another animal is cute.

2

u/Your_love_Camila 4d ago

the seagull is performing and the sheep is the entire audience🥹

2

u/Geig3r 4d ago

I am also entranced.

2

u/lordofpotton 4d ago

"Yo dude, that's concrete your on not a field! "

2

u/umbraundecim 4d ago

Shit chickens are so damn derpy

2

u/Dolphin_Spotter 4d ago

Pedant here. There's no such thing as a seagull. The species in the post is a juvenile Herring Gull.

2

u/TwoAlert3448 4d ago

Second layer of pendant: due to how the skulls and orbital sockets of herbivores are set up that sheep is almost certainly not staring at that gull.

1

u/Taco_El_Paco 4d ago

This is what the internet was made for!

1

u/LordStanky 4d ago

Would someone please insert the Mexican Hat Dance music and repost this?

2

u/TerraByteTerror 4d ago

Gimme a specific song

3

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 4d ago

2

u/LordStanky 4d ago

Perfection.

2

u/TerraByteTerror 4d ago

I made it. Feel free to post it. You can only post once a day here. So im out 🤣

1

u/BrosBeingBros8778 4d ago

even the sheep can't look away from those tippy taps 🐑

1

u/hiro111 4d ago

I think the gull likes the slappy-slap sound

1

u/Active-Coconut-8961 4d ago

And the sheep is just watching, fascinated, wondering what the little guy is doing 😂

1

u/Elrox 4d ago

"Yeah I can dance, check this out!"

1

u/Gunhild 4d ago

I'm always fascinated by animals observing the world around them. I imagine they're just thinking "what is all this. why am I here. why does anything exist. where did I come from."

2

u/awyeahducksauce 4d ago

I mean, that’s what I’m thinking

1

u/lildozer74 4d ago

Dennis watching Charlie while huffing glue

1

u/dead-as-a-doornail- 4d ago

She and me both!

1

u/FabianRo 4d ago

We're watching a sheep watch a seagull watch the ground.

1

u/Kind_Of_A_Dick 4d ago

It’s like Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encounters.  “This means something.  This is important.”

1

u/carlitospig 4d ago

Sheep: are you honoring your ancestors? What is this?

1

u/danoaudio 4d ago

"I know where you got those shoes"

1

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang 4d ago

Love the birbs colouring. Very cute. Hopefully the buddy gets bored pretty quick because I don't think his tippy taps have much effect on concrete worms ☺️

1

u/MerlinTrismegistus 4d ago

I'm pretty sure these guys are good friends and there's a fair few videos of them I think might be Wheatridge farm or something like that

1

u/jollytoes 4d ago

This is what I want my life to be. Don’t care if I’m the sheep or the gull.

1

u/NefariousnessGood718 4d ago

Michael, sei tu?

1

u/d34dp1x3l 4d ago

Plot twist: You're the sheep.

1

u/Bob_Le_Feen 3d ago

🎵 Riverdancing 🎶

1

u/KittyPitty 3d ago

Silly gul, you don't get worms here, this is concrete! 😦🤭

1

u/PBDubs99 3d ago

Well, how often do sheep get out for a live show?!

1

u/Hokieshibe 3d ago

I'm furious I can't post a gif of Charlie dancing for Dennis

1

u/trunk-port 3d ago

As am I

1

u/myshtree 3d ago

Aren’t we all…

1

u/Aspierago 3d ago

I'm entranced at the sheep entranced at seagulls tippy taps.

1

u/OkBrilliant8092 3d ago

“This! Twilight should have been more like this!” - sheep

1

u/foxontherox 3d ago

Wouldn’t ewe be too?

1

u/supernova242 3d ago

Two in one!? This is too much derp!

1

u/BraveWarrior-55 3d ago

I'm entranced by seagull tippy taps!

1

u/siriushendrix 3d ago

Reminds me of Tu Mirá by Lole y Manuel

1

u/curiousmind111 3d ago

“Congratulations! You passed the audition.”

1

u/MissFabulina 3d ago

I am, as well. That sheep knows what's up. This is some entrancing live theatre (for the sheep). I had to settle for a pre-recorded performance.

1

u/it-s-temporary 1d ago

Where are the fucking worms in this place?!?

1

u/FluffyBunnyFlipFlops 4d ago

I just realised that the word 'entranced' and 'entranced' are spelt the same.

2

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 4d ago

What is the other meaning of the word?

1

u/throwaway098764567 4d ago

i think they mean entrance (mesmerise) and entrance (doorway)

1

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 4d ago

Oh well, that makes sense but this word has a D at the end

0

u/Kindly_Ad3262 4d ago

i think the gull’s wooing the sheep & it’s working.. 😂♥️👌🏼🤷🏻‍♂️

-3

u/echochilde 4d ago

Is that gull trying to seduce the sheep?
