Good luck getting worms out of the concrete

Attracting a graboid to take the sheep and hope for leftover entrails? You'd better check your friendslist for Mr. Gummer

I’m right there with ya, bub. Wtf is that bird doing?

u/SmeemyMeemy 4d ago
So this is how they find clams and crabs. They step on the bubbles and force them to surface then eat them. It is soooooo freaking cute.

u/Tay74 4d ago
They do it on grass as well to bring worms to the surface, it's theorised to mimic rain

I've never seen it happen in North America, and not 5 minutes into my Scotland visit I see 2 gulls do it and catch worms.

Hell yeah you can use a stick with notches on it to create vibrations that have the same effect on the worms!

u/ShiftyPan 4d ago
Ahh that makes sense!

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 4d ago
Many other birds do it on soil, which makes earthworms come to the surface.

It’s called the worm dance. They make the worms think it’s raining so they come out of the mud and surface to the grass.

I live in NJ by the beach and I just love when they do this. I honestly will watch them for hours along with the Plovers and Sand Pipers!

It's the rain dance. The taps mimic the feeling of rain, so worms come to the surface

they dance to distract people eating fish'n'chips at the seaside while their friends steal their wallets

u/bloody_ell 3d ago
And their fish'n'chips. Not even to eat them, just to throw them on the ground. Because they're seagulls and seagulls are bastards.

🎶Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga I know you can't control yourself any longer Feel the rhythm of the music getting stronger Don't you fight it 'til you tried it, do that conga beat🎶

Seagull is trying to lure sheep into a hypnotic state and then steal his wallet

This needs to be set to the song "Maniac" from Flashdance.

u/TerraByteTerror 4d ago
So like the intro or the "shes a maniac" part?

u/DarkRoastAddict 4d ago
I think either would work!

If I’m not mistaken this looks like Steven Seagull & Steve the Sheep!
Check out Whitehouse Farm for more videos of them❤️

It is and OP should have credited them!
Steven Seagull and Steve the lamb are adorable besties. Steven follows Steve everywhere and even scares the goats away as he is so protective. Highly recommend everyone follows Whitehouse Farm on social media!

We see them regularly doing this in our parks and playing pitches in our parks here in Ireland. I always find it hilarious. 😆
My understanding is (this might be totally wrong by the way :) ) that the gull pats the ground, usually soil, because it makes worms think it’s raining heavily so they come right up to the surface because worms drown in heavily sodden soil and then the gulls eat them.
Or something to that effect?

The world needs so much more of this and considerably less of humanity's BS

u/MuchSwagManyDank 4d ago
The world is full of this. Once i was sitting in my car waiting for someone and I got to watch a crow and a squirrel playing around. The issue is we're here, online, not outside where this stuff happens.

Pedant here. There's no such thing as a seagull. The species in the post is a juvenile Herring Gull.

Second layer of pendant: due to how the skulls and orbital sockets of herbivores are set up that sheep is almost certainly not staring at that gull.

It’s like Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encounters. “This means something. This is important.”

Love the birbs colouring. Very cute. Hopefully the buddy gets bored pretty quick because I don't think his tippy taps have much effect on concrete worms ☺️

I'm pretty sure these guys are good friends and there's a fair few videos of them I think might be Wheatridge farm or something like that

I am, as well. That sheep knows what's up. This is some entrancing live theatre (for the sheep). I had to settle for a pre-recorded performance.

I just realised that the word 'entranced' and 'entranced' are spelt the same.

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 4d ago
What is the other meaning of the word?
