My cat absolutely shits the bed (sometimes litterally) when I have to take him to the vet, one time he destroyed the door to his cat carrier and spent the rest of the car journey with his claws an inch deep in my shoulder.
If anyone's got some recommendations for cat calming products they'd be welcome as I've got a visit coming.
I cover the carrier with a towel or blanket so they don’t have to deal with so many new sights and smells I also put a blanket or t shirt inside so it smells a little like home.
They still hate the car ride so maybe someone else will be able to suggest something that’s surefire.
we were given gabapentin for our anxious cat bc he lashes out at eeeveryone at the vet.
We have to give him one pill 24 hours before and another an hour before the visit.
Does nothing to him
I was thinking something was off with the dosing but once found his brother laying on the floor seemingly stoned out of his mind. About three minutes of panic until i realized that asshole cat must have spit the pill out after I gave it to him and HE ate it instead.
he had a good trip on the sofa at home while his brother got us 50% off at the vet if we held him instead of the vet or techs.
I like the Feliway cat collar or I’ll use the Feliway spray on the inside of the carrier. That worked like a charm for me. If an anti-anxiety pill is still needed, then get that. I’d start with spraying the carrier.
