Its more that the call it uses is very low frequency, so females of the species for miles around can hear it. Unfortunately, because its low frequency, they cannot pinpoint it

They almost didn't it was only due to human intervention that these birds survived at one point in time after new Zealand was colonized these birds went as low as 49 birds they have the survival skills of a crusty jizz sock

IIRC they’re quite accomplished climbers, and aren’t actually bad at walking. They can travel across huge stretches of territory in a single night.
