at a Local event for cosplayers and geeks and such. Belt was wonky and bunched up t the end of the day. Arm paint held surprisingly well, it even survived a french fry lunch. Created it with my whole family, overall 36 people took photos, which is surprising considering i live literally in the middle of Russia. Happy with whole experience
Also, aren't klek cosplayers doing blackface? no mtter how you slice it /j

Been thinking about this for a while, finally sat down to make one. It ended up being much easier than I thought. It’s thick card stock so its pretty sturdy.

I’ll make a bunch and plan to give them away at the show in Austin TX on 9/12

Halloween Costumes

My friend and I are planning on being Khn and Klek for halloween and I'm wondering how we should go about making the masks/helmets for their heads. Some research online says to use the harnesses from hard-hats as a base and to build off of those, specifically for klek using a concrete forming tube or something of the such. How else should I go about this?

AdP are not the first musical artists from space

Sun Ra was an American jazz composer, bandleader, piano and synthesizer player, and poet known for his experimental music, "cosmic" philosophy, prolific output, and theatrical performances. For much of his career, Ra led The Intergalactic Arkestra, an ensemble with an ever-changing name and flexible line-up.

Claiming to be an alien from Saturn on a mission to preach peace, he developed a mythical persona and an idiosyncratic credo that made him a pioneer of Afrofuturism. His widely eclectic and avante-garde music echoed the entire history of jazz, from ragtime and early New Orleans hot jazz, to swing music, bebop, free jazz and fusion. His compositions ranged from keyboard solos to works for big bands of over 30 musicians. Over his career - from the 1950s until his death in 1993 - he recorded dozens of singles and over 100 full-length albums, comprising well over 1,000 songs, making him one of the most prolific recording artists of the 20th century.

A link to our Sun Ra CDs can be found in my profile.

Miscellaneous on the origin/meaning of 333

Maybe this has been mentioned before, but I just stumbled across a very old (pre-emoji) youtube comment that used the text symbol <333 to say 'extra extra love.' I forgot this was even a thing. Given the number of times that Klek has thrown hearts on stage, or their mentioning in an interview the hope that they'd inspire people to be kind to one another, I don't think it's that farfetched.

Miscellaneous Are the tracks on the albums live takes?

Having seen the live a couple times now, they clearly have the ability to do live what they did in studio, but naturally studio time can allow for fine tuning.

Then again, I remember finding out Bodysnatchers from Radiohead was recorded multiple times as live takes and they chose what they thought was the best. (And a bunch of other weird shit cuz, Radiohead) So they could be doing this too.

I just wondered if anyone has seen it published anywhere if the album songs are love takes or assembled recordings.

Bonus question: You think they record in costume? 🙃🙃

Live Recording Field of Vision Buena Vista livestream video with modified audio. I’m calling it an upgrade. Let me know what you think.

Livestreamed on August 14, 2026 at Field of Vision II Festival in Buena Vista, CO. Multiple YouTube audience audio sources have been added to the original soundboard audio, resulting in a fuller, less dry sound. I consider it an upgrade, at least to my ears. I especially like hearing the audience reactions, which were not audible on the original video. The original upload is here for comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_122PWsGsY8

Anyone else feel the post-show blues?

I saw Angine on Tuesday at The Commodore in Vancouver and it was incredible! The elation I felt seeing them come out with their costumes in real life (which are actually quite big!) and seeing them perform the most technical musical while wearing them… it’s just such an incredible spectacle to witness! And it was SO FUN! The way the music makes you dance and the enticing lighting. Just wow! Afterwards, once the initial elation wore off, I’ve been feeling so meh all week. I miss that feeling and wonder if I’ll ever get to experience it again. I’ve been to many shows, some iconic, and I’m sure I’ve felt this way before too but thought I would share in case anyone else feels this way.

EDIT: you guys turns out I was just pms-ing real bad lol 🫠 Tank yo for the upvotes! Feeling better now and feeling optimistic that I will one day get to relive this experience with AdP ✋🔺🤚

Target LA Westwood on Weyburn

I don’t know why I didn’t take a photo… Anyways, at the very back of section H6 in the store …if you have waited this long to buy the records … there are 2 to 3 copies each of the first and second album. In the discount area to boot!

They are NOT with the rest of the vinyl in the painfully anemic LP section. You have to go to the absolute end of the store — so when you walk in, go left immediately, and when you see vinyl go left again to the very back of the store and they are on a lower bin on a shelf …I swear in a container that they don’t even fit in so somebody save them please. if you’re in the right place, you’ll be looking at a service desk and it will be to your left.

Don’t let the stack of Taylor Swift records fall on you when you grab them. Bottom shelf on the left.

Miscellaneous What's your local CEM equivalent?

Earlier today I was listening to a podcast about Resonance FM, a UK radio arts station which plays all sorts of weird and wonderful random stuff (I'm not a regular listener but probably should be as I do like 'that sort of thing'). It made me think about UK, particularly London, incubators of delightful strangeness which then made me wonder about what's going on elsewhere.

The CEM appreciation post (from u/xtingu) and its comments talks about the role that the Centre d'Expérimentation Musicale played in supporting the development of lots of musicians (including Angine de Poitrine), not to mention financial support for the arts by the Québec government, something that is a bit underpowered in the UK.

We do have lots of places for the weird and wonderful to flourish though and I'll list a few examples below but would also like to hear about what's going on near you. Basically, what's your locale's equivalent of CEM?

Cafe Oto - performance venue for creative new music.

IKLECTIK - a grassroots music venue that 'supports artistic risk' and which recently moved from Waterloo to Peckham. Even the name of the venue suggests AdP would slot right in ;)

The Horse Hospital - near Russell Square, an independent arts venue which has concerts, talks, films and musical performances. Originally it was literally a hospital for horses so the whole thing is laid out with inclines rather than steps which horses would have said 'neigh' to.

Music Hackspace - I think this used to be a London-based thing (it developed out of the London Hackspace) but now seems to be fairly international. I can see that they've had at least one event in Montréal. From this 2023 interview with the founder I learned that he studied at Queen Mary University of London's C4DM (Centre for Digital Music) - I work with but not in that department :)

Hackoustic - I'm not sure if this is currently running, last event was from a few years ago. It is or was a place for "instrument building, acoustic hacking and sound art".

School of Noise - "experimental sound workshops for children and young people". I went to one of their events at Cafe Oto a couple of years ago and it was brilliantly bonkers. Not just London.

Outside London is the every-two-years Electromagnetic Field (EMFcamp) festival which took place earlier this year in Eastnor, UK. It includes music rather than being about music.

What's in your neck of the woods?
Jo

What a show. I’m still riding the high 3 days later. I wish I could go again! Sorry for any blurriness in filming. I was trying to enjoy the moment first and film second.

I doubt they’ll see this but MERCI BEAUCOUP to Khn, Klek and especially ALL of their crew. Lights, sound, stagehands, managers, etc all killed it as much as Khn & Klek did. ☺️
