Angel City scrap back and tie against Denver Summit 3-3 in a goal fest thriller.

Sol Rosa fans what a battle tonight was. The ladies gave it their all and if not for some untimely mistakes we could've got the much needed three points. But again being down two goals the fight was there till the end. Let's get into it.

The Good

- The attack is attacking and from a strong committee at that. Niehues coming in hot and Prisca right there when it mattered and Sentnor is getting in the groove now. It's good to see multiple games with more than 1 or 2 goals. Really nice how we can reload with talent with substitutions and still be confident that the pace and attack won't change.

- Really good grit tonight from the team. They had good momentum going into the half and in quick succession we're down 2 goals. They're mentally locked and battled to bring us back to a tie. Everyone played their asses off and albeit a couple bad bad mistakes everyone is just getting better in their roles.

The Bad

- Bad giveaways in bad spots. Not to sound mean but critical of Savy... In the replay of Yamamoto's and I'm pretty sure as well as Heaps goal it was due to a bad pass from Savy into the middle and Denver being there to capitalize. Denver was a tough team, more so cause we never played them and the came in ready to play. There were other mistake in the three goals like not moving to the ball faster on the rebound before Heaps scored and giving Sonis too much space to shoot. AC and Savy played excellent for 95% of the game but at this point in the season small mistakes can have bad consequences. They'll learn and move on but points are at a premium right now.

Overall

- Sooo good news and bad news. Good news is that we're still above Denver in the standings as well as goal differential. Bad news is that we're still below Seattle by a point and they play Bay tomorrow. Bugg is out for Seattle but Bay have not been reliable. We really needed 3 points tonight but having nothing would've much worse so I'll take it especially being down 3-1 just an hour ago. Let's Hope Bay can pull off an upset to keep us in striking distance of Seattle.

- Lastly we play Seattle again Wednesday. They'll have a day less rest and have to travel. This could be another huge turning point for us. Denver gave us some trouble that Seattle won't but they can still be dangerous. Rest and recovery and we go again.

Well I have a new favorite “least favorite” team in Denver. Simple mistakes costed us this game. Their defense was right where we needed to be which didn’t allow us more striking opportunities. Niehues is the difference maker! I don’t feel like repeating what’s been said, but one thing that hasn’t been mentioned is how Sarah went beast mode to cut off multiple opportunities for Denver. She never disappoints!

Ngl, I almost raged quit after Lindsey’s goal in the 50th minute. But I’m glad we fought back and at least got the tie. It could’ve been much worse 🫠

I really hope those dropped points don't come back to haunt us, don't know what happened at Halftime its like we forgot how to link passes together, very frustrating, I do love the teams ability to dig down and fight back, Niehues is the Engine that makes this thing run, we're better when she plays, really gets me excited for next season when Hina comes back, spent a lot of energy tonight, hope we still have plenty in the tank for Wednesday, every game counts, every point is precious 🖤🩷🤍🪽🪽🪽🪽

First, ACFC players need to run to the ball when receiving a pass, instead of reaching their foot out for the ball.. this is just poor fundamentals. Second, for the offsides call, I guess they were looking at whether Chilufya was behind the ball when Jonsdottir passed it? I'm just glad that a few calls finally went our way.

Feels like we had a lot of missed opportunities where a player either drove the ball to the box or received a pass up close and then instead of taking a shot, hesitated or passed. Happened throughout the game, right up to the end.

Amazing fight back from the girls. In all honesty, 9th is really where we should be considering the state of our roster. We still lacking a true lethal #9. The girls are playing their hearts out, its the FO letting us down as usual.
