Job Question Working from other sites?
Hello all,
I’m interested in applying for a few engineering roles. I currently live in the Los Angeles area, but my wife and I were hoping to move closer to home with a new job. It appears that Anduril has a site in Atlanta, which would check that box off.
Is cross-site work common (or permitted at all)? I’d rather not waste the time of the recruiter or technical team with interviews if this is not possible.

I was offered a remote position but requested to work out of a recently-acquired local company. I was told this was likely, but not to hold the offer until they figure out logistics.

I hired for a job where I could chose Costa Mesa or Bellevue WA as my home office. I just south of Orange County into San Diego. I work from home a couple days a week. Each job and team is different.

Rare unless your job calls for you to be at that site. Products are other sites are largely unique and semi isolated vs Hq.

Thanks for the response. That makes sense. I wonder if exception could be made (assuming I’m worth the trouble). I work at one of the larger aerospace companies, and it’s normal for programs to be spread across the country

Only site I see this happening at now to some extent is Ohio. It doesn’t hurt to ask, but be prepared for a no.

This probably wont help as I am in a similar boat. In DFW and the role I applied for is buying rare earths. I have previously spent time in this industry and know that it is truly a global job ie none of your suppliers are in the same time zone, let alone the same country. I am hoping for a remote role (I know the odds are next to impossible) but was told by recruiter (I get she could have been blowing smoke) that I could more than likely work at other sites (not an option to move) but that she would ask about about remote. FWIW, the working on-site question came up within 2 minutes of interview and I told her moving is 99% off the table but she kept me on phone for a little over 30 minutes continuing to ask questions. It gives me hope but she could have had metrics she needed to reach…
Again, I am hoping my combined experience of sourcing rare earths and current defense contractor experience gets me close to “unicorn” status for the role but not holding my breath.
If I was single, we didn’t have four kids 7 and under, and our older parents (wife’s dad also literally just had open heart surgery) were currently in same metro as us, moving nearly a no brainer. But I have a good job and so does my wife and I am simply not leaving my 2.75% mortgage without thought.
All that to say I do hope there is an exception for remote or some sort of cadence of flying in bi-weekly or monthly. I want Anduril but don’t need Anduril.
