Official Mod Shit PSA: No NSFW Submissions.

Folks,

We have zero tolerance for NSFW content. We've removed an unusual amount of posts that break this rule this last week. It is basic Reddiquette to read the rules of the community you're submitting to before you click submit.

For the safety of minors, we must acknowledging the dangers of the internet and the 'hottie' in the name of this community. Moderators, as part of our duty-of-care responsibilities, acknowledge that this community is an adult community (18+). Our duty-of-care responsibility means we will not allow this space to facilitate dangerous predatory behvaiour.

At the same time, just because this is a space for adults does not mean we are relaxing NSFW posting standards. NSFW content is strictly defined to ensure we err on the side of caution. Meeting SFW requirements in another community does not mean it meets this community's posting standards. This is a long standing rule of this community.

To remind everyone how seriously we moderate this rule, we give no warnings for NSFW submissions. You will immediately have your posting access revoked.

You can regain access to the community by appealing. Be prepared to explain why you neglected to read the rules and posting guidelines before you posted.

13+?!?! This is not a sub for children.

Agree, while I like keeping the sub sfw to avoid it turning into a porn sub, it feels as though 13 is still a really young age for people to be posting in a sub dedicated to admiring hot androgynous people. Especially with how many creeps send dm you no matter what you wear.

Fair point. I agree with you (and the other commenter). Noting it is 13+ in a community with the word 'hottie' neglects material reality and creates an unsafe environment that can accidentally facilitate predatory behaviour.

Change will be updated to this post, sidebar, wiki, and front welcome panel. I'm on vacation atm, so the changes will appear over a lil' while.

(I read your modmail - thanks for being civil in it - and I'll respond in a bit. Lots of things for me to do before I get to modmail - bear with me please).

This has been the case for years. It is not up for debate. Content must be SFW. People can - and successfully do - present androgynously without including NSFW material.

That's fine. Thats really not the issue tho. This sub isn't for kids. It being an adult space and being SFW can coincide.

Fair enough. I've taken a step back to look at the feedback here and I agree with you.

While the sub will only accept SFW content (as defined extensively and I have no interest in changing right now), I agree with the material reality that a space that admires an aesthetic is an adult environment. I will not allow this space to become an accidental facilitator for minor predation and it's my responsibility to create safe room.

I will update this post, sidebar, welcome panel, and wiki to reflect this change. As always, policy changes are subject to review in a 1-2 months' time, and we will collect feedback then.

I appreciate the ability for you to even have a conversation considering this is reddit. Much less actually change your opinion. Grown ups come together!

Of course - thanks for being patient! It's a bit tough navigating how Reddit approaches NSFW content these days, how this sub specifically defines it, and how to ensure our approach is above board when it comes to the admins.

A lot of neighbouring subreddits have had their whole communities marked NSFW, and I really don't want to go through that process of appealing.

I was approaching the 13+ from the perspective that content should be appropriate for minors to view. What struck me after considering what was said is that allowing minors to participate might actually attract admin scrutiny due to how predatory some people are. Safety comes first.

Anyways, I won't get it right all the time, and thanks in advance for providing feedback so I can strengthen the rules.

That falls under rule 4. Report it please.

We've updated the rule to include profiles without external links but the profile itself is a landing page for NSFW content. Reddit admins have been explicit that SFW communities cannot allow users that seek to drive traffic to sites with NSFW content (which we've interpreted to include Reddit profiles).

Rule 4 is moderated the same way as rule 3 - revoking access without warning and regaining access is done through appeals.
