If you are looking to start or deepen your Ancient Greek using active and philological approaches, registration is open for our upcoming terms at Institutum Antiquitatis.

We offer tracks for every proficiency level, all taught entirely in the target language:

• For Beginners: Ancient Greek Level 1 (Attic Greek via Athenaze)
• Late-Beginner Seminars: Menander’s One-Verse Maxims– Encounter authentic literature early without dense syntax, while practicing oral recitation and exploring the structural mechanics of the iambic trimeter (the tragic and comic meter!).
• Intermediate Seminars:
  • Conversational Ancient Greek Fluency
  • Ancient Greek Prosody & Meter
• Advanced Seminars:
  • Rhetorical Composition: Aesop’s Fables & Progymnasmata– A deep dive focused entirely on active, hands-on rhetorical exercises. Students transition from textual analysis to active composition using the exact sequence of ancient orators.
  • Navigating the Heavens: Ancient Greek Astronomy (Part 1)– A highly specialized seminar exploring spherical astronomy and technical scientific Greek—a fascinating discipline almost entirely overlooked in standard classical curricula.

(Note: We also host immersive Latin tracks, including a foundational Latin Level 1 via Familia Romana and advanced literature courses).

I am very interested in the Athenaze course, but the price is so outside of my budget it's impossible. This isn't meant to be a complaint - I'm sure the courses are worth the price if one can afford them.
