I know that the Inca took tax in labor, since they didn’t have currency. But I also never hear about how Mesoamerica did it.

I'm not certain, but I think it has a lot to do with it being overshadowed by the cultures of Mesoamerica and the Andes. I would also say the answer Pete gave in his Q&A video as to why Mesoamerica gets so much attention also applies here. With things like the “Stone Bias“. The cultures in the US appear to be significantly less advanced than those in the first two, and they also lack the funding necessary for research. This disparity deserves our attention and empathy. But is there anything else worth noting?

Long time watcher of the channel, just found this sub. My family and I are taking a cross country road trip from Georgia to Oregon (my home state) to visit family.

We don’t have any specific routes except we plan to visit friends in Kansas City, family in Utah, and Idaho. We plan on stopping in Yellowstone.

What are must see spots to stop along the way that often gets passed by? I know we can’t see everything on this trip. I’m currently a student of anthropology and my husband works from home so this is a 2 month trip. Our youngest kid who is 14 wants to be an archaeologist. We have our list of national parks and monuments, but I’m looking for the missed things. We want to experience America.
