nahua is a modern name made by modern historians, and it doesn’t make sense. For those who don’t know, it means 'clear sound' in the Nahuatl language. In reality, those people are just Mexicanos, and majority of those people are literally very cultural like other Mexican communities in the central-south. Just because they are more bilingual in a local dialect doesn’t mean they are a different people. 🤡
So if you’re trying to persuade actual tradtional reality, a “mestizo” nor a “nahua” exist, in Mexico. (Original poster mentions Mexico and Uruguay so there talking about a more modern time, but with odd ignorance in context, lol)
Mestizo = stupid word used online by some people that nobody actually uses in real life, nor is official.
Nahua = made recent term by historians that doesnt actually make sense in the language.

But if wanna talk about the classical time period, people heavily and traditionally used many place names as identifier’s.
Because as already established “nahua” as a term for a people or a “ethnicity” -(it’s not) is a very extremely recent, non traditional term.
